i dont get this first the obvious Cecil chose for Cam. Two their his parents they raised him be it Cecil or Cyrus dad they have a say. Cecil was well within his right to choose Auburn for Cam and I didnt have a problem with it then and dont have problem with any parent chosing for their child or atleast encouraging them strongly in a direcftion

best post in this thread.
I'm not sure why you are being sarcastic about that.

I just don't get how you "spit out" something at the PC, but you don't mean it. How in the hell was he not prepared going into an announcement? I don't see the reason for cold feet, unless he feels guilty for choosing AU.

What was it Trent Richardson said when he commited to bama? Something like Alabama had done too much for his family to go anywhere else?

He visited Auburn for the first time last weekend. He hadn't had that much time to think about it.

The parents want to watch both kids play. They don't want to split between watching one over the other.
Unless he is selfish he will join big brother.

Auburn does not involve the parents in the recruiting process if they know the parents do not want their kid at Auburn. Calloway's parents were completely shocked when he flipped, and Cyrus' dad apparently has only met an Auburn coach one time ever.
It's a 2 way street though. If my kid is taking an official to X school, I'm going to want to talk to those coaches on the phone, if not meet them in person if I can. I also think any coaching staff out there doesn't want to start off on the wrong foot with parents/guardians, etc in terms of those parents thinking their kid was duped in playing at X school. No coach wants 3/4/5 years of a pissed off parent to deal with. And I think these kids would want to let their parents know of whatever decision they're planning on making, whether they agree with them or not.
There's also the fact that some parents can't afford 5 plane trips across the country for their kids official visits. Not saying Cyrus' parents can't, but the NCAA rules say, as far as I know, that if a parent drives, they can get gas reimbursed, but they have to pay for their plane flights.
It doesn't sound like his dad is being too overbearing, at least in public. No one knows what he's really like out side of that story/interview, but I just hope they let Cyrus make the decision on his own. I have zero problem with parents/family giving their kids advise and telling them where they think they should go, etc. I expect parents to do that. But I also expect parents to let their children make the final decision of what they really want to do.

I agree with this and think it is being handled well, whoever he chooses.
Calloway is a different story though. I actually feel bad for him. He really got fricked over hard and it sucks for him.

I don't understand this logic. It's not as if he was choosing someone for the first time, and someone was making him choose Alabama. He had been committed to Alabama for 18 months prior to "switching" at the Army game.

How did Calloway get "fricked over hard"?

He is from Maryland. It's not like he can drive down to Auburn for 2 or 3 unofficial visits, while taking visits to other schools the whole time. We got his final visit and obviously he was impressed with it and maybe he really made a mistake and shouldn't have committed to us, but that's why you bring kids in for official visits as late as you can and make the best last impression possible.

I believe Calloway saw that he will likely sit on the bench at bama for years and probably have to learn a new position he may never be that good at (safety).
At AU he would have gotten a very legit shot at RB for a full season most likely. Or we need linebackers badly also after losing both starters and having a converted safety that lost his starting job twice back.
Calloway would have seen significant playing time at AU next year. I believe he will be in danger of the Petey Smith role at bama and may be three years in and never start a game because bama is the deepest team in America at his natural position.
Therefore, it sucks for him that because his stepdad was a HUGE bama fan, he practically forced his son into a situation that is probably not good for him.

I understand AU's proximity, but the kid should have never committed in the first place if he was going to feel guilty about it. IMO that's what happened. He probably feels that he let his family down, and noticed it during or shortly after his announcement.
