Spending big money on guys like Nic Anderson and Bauer sharp and failing to shore up the o line is probably the biggest issue with this team
Yeah because the only people evaluating and negotiating players is the GM. Has nothing to do with the guys on top of that org chart at all!

We also spent massive amounts of money on d ends who had a combined 3 sacks.
Talent without attitude & coaching usually results piss poor performance. Maybe Baker is not the defensive guru y’all claim he his.

But it got us ranked high which is what yall seem to care about
There was only one guy who cared about that and he is your issue now. The guys that said “we give no shits about stars, we care about players with untapped potential and love to play” are in charge in Oxford. I suggest you go back and watch Pete’s press conferences over the past couple years. There aren’t many but he states what the philosophy has been and lead the charge to keep our cupboards full

I support any GM that can retain Trinidaddy Chambliss :)

LSU sitting at #13 with half the commits of some of the teams ahead of them.

Since when has Ole Miss ever been any kind of talking point?
No one ever paid you guys any mind until you got Kiffin. I can't wait until some time passes and you can go back to mediocrity that most of the country barely knows even exits.

Look at last year’s top ranked portal classes. As someone else said, it isn’t very predictive. Last year’s top 10:
1: LSU - 7-6
2: Texas Tech - playoffs
3. Miami - playoffs
4: Ole Miss - playoffs
5: Oregon - playoffs
6: Florida State - 5-7
7: Missouri - 8-5
8: Auburn: 5-7
9; North Carolina: 4-8
10: Kentucky: 5-7
Everyone loves to point out how Ole Miss, Miami, Oregon and Texas Tech rode the portal into the playoffs. But they ignore the 4 teams that had losing seasons and didn’t even make a bowl. They ignore the two teams that made bowl games but had significantly worse records than the prior season. Simply having a high ranked portal class assures a team of nothing.

not rocket science

The big question is when will USC ever do anything on the field that comes close to their recruiting rankings?
We've got the 23rd ranked class with only 16 (fewest in the Top 25) commits and a 91.24 ranking (8th highest) rating per player.
We'll take 10-12 more out of the portal by February.

Mike Norvell (6 seasons), Mark Stoops (13 seasons), Drink (6 seasons) and Brian Kelly (4 seasons) were all 4 years in, or more, as coach at their school. No one is rebuilding a roster in year 4 or later. No, the roster is built. The coach built it.

This makes no sense. As of last night when you posted this thread OU had 1 portal commit. How can we rank 10?
Posted on 1/5/26 at 1:39 pm to OU Guy
It shows OU has four transfer commitments; one 4*, two 3*; and sitting at 11th.
ETA: and this is a perfect example of how flawed transfer rankings and roster rankings are now days.

We got 3 so far today. But when he posted the thread last night we only had 1? Still makes no sense how one commit put us 10th

I apologize I meant the other USC. Right now Southern Cal has a high ranked class. I didn’t mean South Carolina.

I take transfer rankings with a grain of salt. The recruiting services have enough experience they are a pretty good judge of high school recruits. But they are still trying to figure out transfers.
I think the fact that they have no idea how well or quickly a transfer will adapt to a new scheme and locker room factors into a lot of the misses.

We are loaded up on young talent. Deboer is actually doing a nice job on the high school recruiting, but these kids aren’t staying long enough to develop like Saban used to be able to do, without NIL and transfer opportunities.
We have a ton of potential transfers in town this week.
It’s really become the NFL though where depending on the position need for that team, depends on who they go after, offer money and sign. But the odds of them all
Panning out are rare. There will be fat years and there will be bad years, even for OSU, Indiana’s and michigans.

Simmons is going to win the job for sure. In a practice setting he is going to spin that ball and wow the crap out of everyone. He has all the tools and looks like a future NFL QB. The feet, the arm, the legs, the brains are all there.
The one thing he lacks in my opinion is just game experience. I feel like thats why his in game football awareness is so far behind the rest of his skills. But, so far Miz has been pretty good at developing QB's...and most prob started with less raw talent than this guy.
