A&M was number one in 1957 when news broke that Bear was going to Bama. They proceeded to lose to Rice 7-6 that week, then cratered, losing to underdog Texas (Royal’s first team). Bear always regretted the way that season ended. Lane probably wouldn’t think twice about sabotaging Ole Miss.

Lane is about Lane and nobody else. Doesn't care about his family, his team, etc

Yeah, we were AP #1 and lost our final 3 games

7-6
9-7
3-0

That had to have been some boring arse football.

Looking at the record. Bear coached from 1958 thru 1982 at Bama. During that time, LSU beat Bama 4 times (1958, 1969, 1970 and 1982).That is a record of 21-4. Winning percentage of 84%. Can see why you still hate him.

He sniffed a national championship at . . . Texas A&M in 1956 and 1957.

There was an article about Ken Hall in Sports Illustrated where Bear was asked about him and he said he mishandled the kid and probably would have won a National Championship if he had utilized him correctly instead of trying to fit him into his system.

Players went both ways back then and Ken Hall was not the headhunter BB wanted him to be but he was a helluva a running back.

you fired Orgeron less than 3 years after winning a national championship and Kelly less than 3 years after winning the SEC west.

Context matters. Neither one was doing their job. Kelly was taking vacations during the bye week and Coach O gave up. Literally told Woodward he didn't know how to fix it.

Hall's high school stats are crazy to this day.

His 11,232 yards rushing are still the Texas state record. Derrick Henry holds holds the national record and Hall's stats are the third most behind Kelvin Taylor.

He still is the all time leader in points scored per game nationally at 33

His 38 straight 100 yard games held until the 90s when broken by Emmitt Smith

He had 4,045 rushing yards in a single season.

I’m going to be so pumped if Kiffin decides to carry all this drama over to LSU. It would be amazing…

I think it’d be prudent to wait a bit and first see if Kiff can be the next Saban, Les or Coach O first and win a Natty

Bear Bryant is one of the Greatest Coaches of his era. In todays era, he’d be fired after two years. Not because he can’t coach, but these prima donas would jump ship and seek easier pastures.

LK is the poster child of coaches for this new era of college football. However, his style may win a few titles over the next 20 years but he will never and I mean never be able to even sniff Bears jock strap or Sabans.

The only place LK might have a chance to enter rarified air would be at Bama and that will never happen.
