Every other collegiate sport has a tournament to determine the champion. Every, single one.
The current system works really well for a select few. I'll be very happy to see it go away forever and mark 2024 as the year we finally decide true national champs in D1 football.

They had the chance to go to 12 teams this year but the FSU AD refused and voted against it. Irony is ironic!

That’s how you know this is BS. If it was purely ranking “the best” they would have put Georgia ahead of FSU for the same reason they put Alabama ahead of them.
