What makes this SEC related, you ask?

Basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal surprised the kids who play ball in a Gainesville neighborhood - he showed up as 'backup' for a pick up game with Officer Bobby White (middle)

Pretty damn good representative of the SEC, Lsu and just an overall good guy. Wished there were a lot more folks like him out there.

Kid he is backing up on is wearing a Rockets Barkley jersey.

No doubt that Shaq made a comment about that.

We need more good stories like this. Think Shaq has a height advantage.

Cops NEVER should have shown up for this call, except to arrest the bitch who reported this "crime." Obvious staged PR move is obvious.

I hated Shaq so much after he left Orlando. I hated him for years. But then I got older, and realized how bad Orlando sucked. He's been one of my favorites ever since.

What? Did you not see the first video?

A cop showed up to a real call and just played ball with the kids. That video went viral and Shaq saw it and went to meet the Officer and they went back and played the kids together.

Obviously cameras would be there for something that was already well circulated on the Internet.

That real call was a noise complaint at 5 PM directly relating to kids playing basketball in the street... I see you only got part of the story.

I'm confused, are you pissy because the cops answered a call for service or because some bitch made a noise complaint about kids shooting hoops?

It is a good story, but you have to look closer in the article and at the dashcam video for the whole story.

Shaq didn't just "show up" to support the officer. It was a prearranged event. The initial incident on the dashcam happened earlier in the week. Shaq arranged the event, in coordination with the police, which happened yesterday afternoon. He specifically requested that the police keep the event private because he didn't want media to show up.

It's a great story...but the headline and initial presentation seem to present the impression that Shaq showed up in support of the officer spontaneously at the initial incident. That didn't happen.

Shaq has always been a supporter of law enforcement, if I'm not mistaken. Hasn't he gone along on ride alongs before?

I believe he did some stuff in Miami/Miami Beach with their PD when he was with the heat.

I'd love for you to point out which Florida statute was possibly being broken, then you'll see how bogus this situation truly is.
