At LSU, the young children would bark right back.

And then they'd finish their pint of Bourbon.

You're a dick, so this comment is understandable..

Judging by your response you are the one who is being a dick. I asked a simple question. Mizzou was admitted a year ago with big fanfare so it was my understanding they were doing major renovations. Changing that hill could have been done in like a month or less and should have been completed months ago.

If you were being less of a dick you could have provided pictures of the other stuff going on so we could have seen that work in progress. TAMU is doing like a half billion upgrade so that would be expected to take longer. Get the sand out of your vag and post better pics instead of bitching.

UK just started a $110 mil renovation of Commonwealth Stadium. It should be SEC grade when finished. Hopefully Mark Stoops will field an SEC grade football team, too. We'll see.

Here is the LINK

The planned improvements at Commonwealth Stadium would add:
+ Spectator driven improvements (i.e. improved concessions, restrooms, video boards, and security)
+ Multi-purpose recruiting room in East end zone (Field House end)
+ Add 16 to 20 suites Private suites
+ Add 2,000 new club seats (although a UK web site indicates up to 2,500 club seats are possible)
+ New press facilities
+ New team store
+ New full service kitchen
+ Improve the UK brand at Commonwealth Stadium
+ Maintain, or slightly reduce, seating capacity while increasing the value of the remaining seats.
+ Upgrades to the Nutter Training Center for the daily benefit of the Student Athletes

Not that anyone cares, but since it was asked, the facilities at Mizzou outside of the football stadium are as good as anyone else in the country and they constantly get updated about every 5 years. We already had a nice indoor practice facility but are getting a new one anyway that will be larger.

We have several recruits every year who only know Mizzou by what they see on TV but when they visit they say Mizzou's facilities are as good as they have seen at other SEC schools and even places like Oregon.

Believe what you want. I have been through Bamas and UFs facilities. Mizzou is was better than UF until last year and comparable to Bama. Mizzou has tons of great amenities for the student athletes.

If you haven't seen it, it sounds more like you are trying to convince yourself it isn't true.

You may be right. I was thinking about existing facilities like the MATC opened in 2008, and comparing it to UT's Anderson Training Center that opened in October. I guess Mizzou has shut down MATC and opened a new center since then.

Looks great IMO ATL.

I like keeping the old-school traditions like the M Rock end zone. Why not build stands ABOVE it ??

The current upgrades are 102 million dollar renovations that they hope to have complete by the start of the 2014 season.

The parts that will be finished for 2013 are the renovations to the existing press box and the moving of the hill. Between construction of the new east side structure and the slightly smaller hill the stadium's capacity will be reduced to about 68,000 from 71,000 for this year only.

Here is a Youtube video that shows what they are doing with the West structure.

The hill was moved forward almost 30ft. Here are two pictures that shows how far back the hill was.

For conference games and big games they would add temp bleachers in front of the hill.

For comparison here is the new hill moved forward.

The stands at the bottom of the picture above are where they are building the new east structure.

The new east structure will be much larger than the one on the west side.

Construction has already started on those new east stands.

When everything is done capacity for the 2014 season should be around 75 or 76 thousand with a lot more premium and suite seating than we currently have.

When this was announced it was announced as phase 1 of a plan to renovate Faurot Field. Phase 2 which doesn't yet have any kind of planned start date would redo the south endzone stands and bring capacity to somewhere between 80 and 82 thousand. That phase is still a ways away from happening though.

Mizzou's stadium is slightly better than Vanderbilt but definitely at the bottom of the SEC.

The student rec center was amazing and is surely at the top of the SEC if not the best.

Their campus was very nice and Columbia is a cool college town.

Great trip and great people. Would go back for sure

also for those asking about the grassy part below the side stands near field level, those used to be part of the east and west stands. In the 90s, the stadium was rennovated and those seats were removed because of poor site lines. Between the crown of the field and the players/media on the sidelines, you can't see anything down there.

And has been said already, the field sits on bedrock because it was built in a rock quarry. Lowering it is not an option.

This is also partly why we can't grow grass. Well, correction, we CAN grow grass just fine, but because of the bedrock, poor drainage AND the lack of air flow because it is sort of in a valley and blocked off by the south stands, a fungus infects the roots. The grass looks fine, but no matter how tall you let it grow (taller usually = deeper roots), the roots aren't healthy and the sod just comes up in massive chunks. It was not a suitable playing surface.

Thanks for the pics and links

What are the brick structures behind the scoreboard in this pic? Looks like 4 separate small buildings that follow the curve. Are they new or were they there before?

Since the SEC has the no pass out rule does that mean they will only be accessible from the inside and not the side that faces the parking lot?

I believe the only one of those open outside the stadium is the team store. And it is guarded on game days.

The hill looks much better now that has been moved closer to the field, IMO.

Thought it was a pretty cool stadium on my 1st visit last fall. Reminded me of Sanford in the 70's...WGAS about fans sitting the grass. Anyway, can't wait to see the improvements on my '14 trip.

Cool campus and great fans. Stayed in St Charles and took a party bus to Columbia with mostly Mizzou fans.
