That was SEC Shorts, and that you do not recognize this means that Texas may be a worst fit for the conference than Vandy.

This is correct and yet people keep posting it over and over again. Culture is irrelevant. The SEC would only want any of these four schools: North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, or Notre Dame. If the ACC does dissolve, Clemson and FSU will be dumped to the big 12 unless they are AAU, then the big 10. My presumption is the Big 10 would target GA Tech, Duke, Virginia, and Miami.

I don’t think you can drop schools… if I remember correctly, charter members like Vandy and MSU for sure can’t be kicked out.
No, while extremely unlikely, I couldn’t imagine any conference giving impunity to any school, even charter members. I’d bet money there are provisions in place to revoke anyone’s membership. The conference wouldn’t have any teeth if you couldn’t. Loic, rampant cheating, ignoring conference laws, are all reasons anyone can get the boot. Whether poor performance is one I don’t know. But it is in other conferences charters. So far the only major conference that has ever booted a team for poor performance was the big east. They booted temple on claims they weren’t acting in good faith to the conference. They were collecting checks but not reinvesting into athletics.

I think fox has made it clear to the big ten they aren’t looking to pay for more teams unless it includes some combo of either fsu Clem or nd.

Mizzou has been a better FB program than more than half of the conference since they joined especially as of late.
Oh you mean they “punted” on baseball which is a non revenue sport that most of the country also doesn’t invest in? Ok
Mizzou FB is currently better than:
Arkansas
Oklahoma
Texas A&M
Kentucky
State
SC
Auburn
Vandy
Basing this off of trips to ATL, double digit win seasons and NY6 bowl wins. Mizzou is a strong program. Deal with it
This is bound to ruffle some feathers...

Unless the big ten has changed their policy, they don’t take non AAU members, and that leaves Clemson and FSU out of that discussion. However, that may have changed, I have no idea.

That’s an old wives tale, just like uf and fsu are mandated by law to play. Ppl used to also say big only takes contiguous teams too. Then ou wash usc ucla hit the scene. Nd just got aau status this past year, but they were previously invited twice without aau. The big knew Nebraska was booted from the aau when they got added. The previous commissioner not petittie but guy before him came out and said it’s a preference not a requirement.

Mizzou not being super southern frat bro culture doesn’t mean they aren’t a good program. It really bothers people mainly because the new kid who is different than them comes in and bumps them down the totem pole.
You’ll rarely if ever see LSU bama or Georgia fans whining because they never impacted us the way they did SC Kentucky Arkansas and Tennessee

And thank goodness for that.
But anyway, just wondering why you say Miss St is more "SEC" than about a dozen others. Sounds like you have no reasoning, which is fine, your fries are burning anyway.

I’ve been in the club saying it’s going to be 35-40 schools breaking off.
We're obviously getting a "major college football" conference - aka minor league football - but no way are we going to be able to shave nearly 100 programs from the current IA/FBS collection.
If we pare it down to 64 we'll be lucky. There are ~ 75 P5 teams right now.

Being SEC for nearly 100 years seems like a reason, no?

Well the charter would be from 1933, so I’m not sure the folks back then were planning for the SEC to become as lucrative as it is today.
I’m 99% sure charter members cannot be kicked out… at least not on whims to add more teams in their place.
Posted on 7/28/25 at 1:58 pm to volfan57836
UNC and Virginia are the SEC’s top priorities. If we go to twenty teams in the big realignment speculated, then Clemson and one other ACC team: maybe NCState, maybe FSU, maybe Duke.

I don’t think that matters. Even lawyers from the 30s know better than to enter a contract with impunity from breaching said contract. That’s poor business.

SEC cares about baseball no? No member school should be around 150 in RPI. You should get a bump for sweeping a SEC team, not fall!
And the most important factor here... They call coke, Soda!!!! wtf!!!! I don't care if they go 45-0 in football the next 3 years!!!
