Which is why I stopped watching football in 2020. Who ever came up with this BS idea for CFB is a fool.
As I stated a month ago on here, those clowns threatening to sue should have just been told, forget it, we are going to stop giving out any scholarships after the current ones are honored.
In 5 minutes those clowns would have changed their minds Ohh, you can't take away all of these scholarships for young black men.50k a year scholarships to big time schools are a very valued commodity.
The sport has now been ruined. You will not be able to discipline the players at all. Its a trainwreck waiting to happen. I will laugh a few years down the road when all you guys who still love thus crap starts crying uncle.

This is a pretty nonsensical connection to make.

Jimmy Rane is the richest person in Alabama with a net worth of $1.2 billion.

I think it's a bit misleading. You don't need billionaires to support your NIL stuff, but you do need a handful of rich guys who are willing to continually pour money into it. And it needs to be organized. Alabama will eventually get their money guys moved in that direction, but that was not the focus under Saban. We were able to get "discounts" as some have said and it wasn't an essential element to our operation. Rich donors were giving money to the NIL, they were giving it for facilities and other stuff Saban directed them to give it to. So while other schools already went through their figuring it out phase, Alabama is going to be doing that now - which puts them at a disadvantage.
It's going to take Alabama a bit to turn the giant ship. And they're going to be behind because of it. And even once they get everyone going in the right direction they still won't be at the top of the heap, but they won't be in the scraps, either.
There are perks for boosters who give to buildings and capital projects.
The problem is that there are no "legal" perks for NIL unless a business can directly benefit from billboards/tv/radio.
That is the correlation to billionaires. Who can give 7 figures annually without asking for anything in return?

Georgia - 18
Easy example of why this is a dumb way to argue this - just start down the list in Georgia:
John Brown - Auburn grad
James Kennedy - Denver grad
Berny Marcus - Rutgers grad
Gary Rollins - UTC grad
Arthur Blank - Babson grad
Ben Chestnut - UGA/Tech grad
Dan Kurzius - no college
Dan Cathy - Southern grad
Bubba Cathy - Samford grad
Trudy Cathy - Samford grad
Ted Turner - Brown grad
David Zalik - Auburn dropout
Just a really silly argument.

Rough guess/sketch of alumni money as of today:
Tier 1: Texas, USC, Ohio St, Texas A&M
Tier 2: Michigan, Georgia, Miami, Oregon
Tier 3: Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, LSU, Notre Dame
Tier 4: Florida, FSU, Ole Miss, Washington, Penn St
Not on the list? You're now a feeder school.
It only matters if the following are/remain true:
1. Unlimited spending remains in place
2. Said big money alumni spend their money SPECIFICALLY on NIL
3. Free/easy transfers remain in place
I don't think people really long for the days of old, where boosters roamed sidelines and telling coaches how to run their programs. Imagine if said booster can now make it public knowledge that they, personally, are the reason you have a 5* QB throwing to two 5* WRs.

Don't forget Tim Cook-he's a pretty big AU fan. Not sure of his personal wealth.

That tier ranking is stupid. The Haslams are extremely wealthy and own an NFL franchise. They have as much if not more than any SEC booster outside of Texas

The state of Alabama has plenty of super wealthy families… if none are officially billionaires it’s only because their wealth is private.
However, most of the wealthiest are Auburn grads so yes, Bama is screwed.

Yeah the state of Florida has really been killing it in NIL.
