I just want to jump in and say, these lists are always funny to me because they are fickle and fallaciously track what teams are elite in that moment.
It's not hard. It's about:
(1) Money
(2) Recruiting base (i.e. 4 hour radius rule)
(3) Culture (works hand in hand with 1)
Also, regarding Orgeron, that issue has been litigated. However, which way does that cut? The worst coach in Ole Miss history is about to go 9-3/10-3 with a QB transfer who couldn't start at Purdue. I'd say LSU is a pretty fricking elite job.

The University of Alabama isn’t in a big city or near the beach so Cowherd’s list doesn’t really make sense. If I’ve learned one thing from cowherd it’s that you’re a fricking loser if you don’t live in a massive tv market and spend your spare time hanging out with leftist Hollywood B-listers drinking mimosas on a private beach.

Has literally nothing to do with top HC jobs
Huh?So if you were a recruit or a coach and all things were
equal there'd be no difference between a Pullman,Washinton or Athens,Ga???
Don't be a freakin idiot...of COURSE the town you're gonna coach at or go to school at plays a PART in these evaluations.

Clemson shouldn't be in the top 10
Why?
Coach is paid more than any coach except Saban.
Assistants are highly paid.
Any good HC knows he can win championships there.
Recruiting is always pretty good.
Facilities among the nation's best.
Administration is All-In for the football program.
Unlike TX, FL, and AL, no other top-tier program in-state.
What else do you need? Flamethrowers and a stadium in a wharehouse district?

Don't forget the major international airport. Can't live somewhere without that.

LOL at Alabama being #1.
I don't know who the poor sap will be who replaces Saban, but I already feel sorry for him.

Throw in the fact that Clemson's fanbase won't be calling for the HC's head if they have a few 9-3 or 8-4 seasons every now and then.
That's one of the things I don't get about these "best coaching jobs" rankings. I'd think a big criterion would be the length of the leash you have. I can assure you that there are probably lots of HCs out there of lesser-prestige teams who are a lot happier than some of the coaches in the SEC, where they live in a constant pressure cooker.
