In a meeting between the Big 12 and TTU, Campbell made this point and said the league had to do this whether it wants to or not. His goal is to target SEC recruits and players.

Come'on TCU and Baylor. Just find a billionaire willing to spend heavily on football. It's easy

Is it a physical impossibility for that man to keep his mouth shut? Like everyone already knows this.

Why the SEC, and not the Big 10?

I mean, I guess you have teams in Oklahoma, Texas, and Florida. But it still seems like there's more overlap with the Big 10 region.

The Big 12 has always taken swipes at the SEC. Perhaps they blame the league for relocating them to the kiddies table.

He's saying the SEC because Texas, A&M and Oklahoma are SEC and those are the schools Tech is probably going up against most for Texas talent.

Primarily because the SEC is the gold standard in athletics, despite the B1G being on a run in football right now. Then add in the regional aspect and some of the heavy hitters moving to the SEC and its only natural.

Campbell also played an era where the Big XII was on par with the SEC in football. Unfortunately Nebraska and Colorado fell off, Bill Snyder got too old and then everyone left for greener pastures so we have what we have today.

The Big 12 should tell this guy to frick off. He's a cheater. He tampers. Still can't win it all in anything even with the cheating.

Maybe the big 12 can just print money like the Federal Reserve to keep up

The Big 12 is already becoming a have and have not conference with regard to NIL. Preseason all-Big 12 team Texas Tech, BYU, & Houston have 16 of 28 players selected.

Schools with known financial issues, Colorado, Iowa St, Kansas, and UCF have no one on the team. Baylor's only selection was the punter, Utah's only selection was the punt returner.

While not identifying a specific figure, McGuire estimates that Texas Tech is spending on its football roster in the top 10 in the country — a number approaching, if not more than, $40 million. Coaches polled here on Tuesday believe that the average Big 12 football roster is likely in the $18-22 million range.

"Texas Tech brings up the average," UCF coach Scott Frost said. "They were probably double that last year."

Campbell has even suggested a floor for spending to require a certain level of investment from Big 12 schools. McGuire says those investing at a high level within the conference include BYU and Utah and, he says, "You can't say Houston is not. They signed the freshman five-star [quarterback Keisean Henderson, the top-rated QB in the 2026 recruiting class.] If that was us, it would be that he came to Tech for the money."

Seems like he would want TT to spend big and other Big 12 schools not spend big so that TT could win the Big 12 every year.

Don't forget LSU.

Meh... LSU is more about the I 10 corridor. Strong influence as far West as Houston due to the large alumni base there, and LSU is the closest SEC school as far East as Mobile. Crazy to think, but LSU is closer to Biloxi than either MS school, and closer to Mobile than either school in AL.

Which is why I didn't think Texas or A&M would bother LSU's recruiting, but Fla State could pose a problem if they come in via expansion. It would be more of a dogfight in areas that LSU had traditionally been the main SEC option.
