Bama sitting pretty and in position to make they playoffs if they can win out. Not saying it'll be easy, because it wont. LSU on the road and then 2 home games against MSU and Auburn, who are both awesome teams.

Probably. If they don't they're obviously in.

Who keeps ranking Ole Miss 19th and not ranking MSU?
Some coaches throw in votes for friends and their former programs. Spurrier used to give Duke a first-place vote in the beginning round of the poll. It helps the program get their name in the paper - a polite gesture.

The coaches poll is kind of a joke anyways. Giving the coaches of competing teams a say in the BCS was an absurd idea.

Close in points and trying to edge out a team? Get you and your coaching buddies to vote your team #1 and leave the other team off the ballot. It's anon. so enjoy the results.

Bama had a chance to win on the last play Auburn got beat down and was never in the game in all reality. Auburn is only 3 KSU missed FGa and a dropped TD from having 2 losses, the coaches all saw that like I did since it was a Thursday night game.

WE beat Arkansas on the road and you beat them at home.

I don't know how popular this opinion is, but I would have been in favor of the playoff system as long as the BCS formula chose the 4 teams...

This has been my opinion since the inception of the 4 team playoff. As soon as they announced that it would be done by a committee instead of the polls, the whole deal turned to bullshite. Should've stuck with the BCS.

Obviously the coaches think Bama is the better team. DWI

They just couldn't bring themselves to put 4 sec west teams in the top 5 so they had to toss Michigan state in there

I think they release everyone's voting record for the all 12, 13, or however many, weeks, at the end of the season.

As for how they place a one-loss Bama ahead of Auburn, Gene Stallings explained the strategy he used to use and it made sense - in his estimation, if the teams played today, on a neutral field, which one did he think would win. In that case, your #1 is who you think would beat everyone on the list. Your #2 would beat everyone but #1, the #3 everyone but #1 & #2, and so forth.

Of course, in truth, I think 90% of the coaches' poll votes are filed by grad assistants. Always liked the AP better, personally.

will further diminish the regular season

Actually right now this current season has been the best and will continue all the way through November leading up to the Iron and Egg bowl among other games. Each week seems to have more value with the playoff looming. It may have more to do with the teams at the top and the fact they are all playing each other but this season is far from diminished.
