But, that doesn't mean that what Coach O said wasn't true. Both can be correct.

You changed your offense because of the struggles.

I agree but many of the struggles came from a very inexperienced group of starters and an OC who hadn't been fulltime in twenty years.

Also the starting quarterback wasnt with the team for much of the offseason and had no experience starting himself.

What does that have to do with Joe Brady? Are you suggesting they both got hired because they give good head. Are they bringing in the ticket and jersey sales?

I'm suggesting that people get hired all the time simply because they're a "hot name" or an owner likes them and not necessarily based on what they've actually done.

The lack of self awareness by Bama fans is astounding

The discussion of whether Ensminger or Brady is mostly responsible for the offense being implemented last year is the argument here.

No one is arguing that Ensminger can't continue the same concepts forward next year. LSU always had the players for it.

What is funny is that I remember last year before the start of the season. Tiger fans were excited about the possibility of having an innovative offensive approach and the rest of the SECRant was laughing at the ridiculousness of LSU fans thinking an unknown assistant coach was going to be a savior.

It was an extremely surprising turnaround, no doubt about it. Joe Burrow went from looking like shite to looking like Tom Brady.

Point to me in this thread that people are saying LSU can't continue next year with the same offense?

So we're basing a coach's "skill" on if he gets an NFL job or not.

Dabo blows I guess.

Well thank goodness he’s not just telling fans what they want to hear.

Yeah, when I said I didn't think it mattered Brady left and that LSU's offense isn't going to be terrible next year, what I really meant was - LSU could only run that offense if Brady was on staff and they are going to be terrible next year.

But calling 70% of the plays is not "leading the offense". It means when it came to the important calls, he wasn't making them.

Ensminger was running same offense for some 30 years and they had to bring in Brady to TEACH the Spread ! I don’t care what anyone says but Brady was instrumental in calling LSU,s offense last year ! You don’t magically change in one year after running the same offense for so many years ! It will be interesting to watch Ensminger and his creative offense next year !!

Ensminger only ran the offense at LSU for 2018 and he didn't have his starting quarterback for most of the offseason and only like 3 experienced starters.

The offensive line was also cobbled together week by week.

He didn't "lead the offense". Coach O is just telling LSU fans/recruits what they want to hear. The other 30% were the calls made in critical situations.

But like I said, it doesn't matter and your offense isn't going to suck just because Brady left.

If LSU fans can't accept it, then just downvote and keep crying.

Of course Brady was instrumental the offense. Orgeron explained it all in two sentences....
quote:

"Let me make sure everybody knows this. Steve Ensminger led this offense. Joe Brady taught us this spread offense, but Steven Ensminger led this offense and called 70 percent oft he plays."

It's not uncommon in any business for a young hot shot to come in with the big ideas and still have an older, more experienced person take the lead and teach the younger person the ropes. Again, Brady can be the brains behind the offense and Ensminger could still be the leader of it. Both can be true.
