Either Stoops or O win it on Sat. If they both win Saturday, I gotta go with Stoops by a hair.

O or Stoops. Depending on who wins the conference or even makes the game this could change.

The SEC coach of the year will come down to:

1. Stoops
2. O
3. Mullen

ALL 3 of these coaches teams would have to completely tank down the stretch for one of them not to walk away with the award.

He was not given the keys to a lambo....

He built, and has impeccably maintained the lambo. He was given the keys to ..... i dunno...something reliable, but that had been incredibly mismanaged and not maintained for years.

He deserves COY as much as any of those other guys...but at this point, I'd go Stoops. His players, his results. O has been great, but you could argue that LSU was underrated. Mullen will have his day soon.

You think a guy deserves COY when he has a team of 5* talent at every position, and has played (up until now) a schedule of unranked teams? How does that make him a great coach? He is SUPPOSED to win with that talent! That's like saying a coach of an NFL team is the best ever because he only plays high school teams and wins every week. Saban could sit on the sideline, under an tiki hut, sipping banana daiquiris thru the entire game, and the result would be the same. This weeks game will be their 1st real test of this season. That being said, LSU is still at a huge disadvantage, talent-wise.

Not if Kentucky beats Georgia. Ed O is definitely deserving but I think Stoops would get the nod because he is at Kentucky and O is at a football school.

there is no way Stoops wins if O beats this Bama team.

Agree with others though. As of today, Stoops will win.

But let's be real. It should probably just be Saban every goddamn year.

Stoops & Orgeron

If LSU beats Alabama and goes on to win the SEC and gets in the CFB playoff then Orgeron will win SEC & national COY by a landslide.

Agree

Yeah, maybe. But if Alabama wins out, it should be Saban. Sure, you can talk about the all world talent. But isn't recruiting that all-world talent part of being a coach? Then look at how he handled the whole Tua-Jalen thing. Finally, look at how he's changed and adapted his entire offensive philosophy.

You're kidding, right?

Recruiting=/= coaching?

COY is for coaches that EXCEED expectations, not meeting them by beating inferior teams with less talent.

Gumps gonna gump.

Who in the ever loving frick do you think is responsible for him having that 5* talent?

So this guy could be on the Alabama sideline and beat Gus. I might actually agree with you on that one.

Saban

He took a first year starter at QB and is undefeated and is demolishing his opponents week in and week out

If you don't understand that recruiting is part of coaching, you really are dumber than a box of rocks. There's just no helping you.

But given what your fan base continues to find acceptable as far as your own head coaching position, there really is no surprise here.

Well, given that one of your colleagues just agreed on Saban, maybe it isn't a "gump" thing.
