Clemson seemed sluggish and unprepared for the opener.

Auburn's defense played a whale of a game, but the Clemson playcalling was extremely vanilla and the Clemson players were so unenthused.

I would consider quitting football altogether if I played for clemson.

A LOT of teams did

I guess Mike Williams would have had double the 175 yards receiving he had, had Clemson gave a crap.

I don't think Auburn's claiming the moral victory. We don't have to take it away from them

I'm going to make them think I am complimenting Auburn...

Auburn['s players] deserve to be complimented after last night.

However, whatever that was last night was nowhere near the team we played eight months ago. What percentage of their offense did Clemson return?

From a skill position standpoint, all of it plus Mike Williams returned. Had to replace the left guard and right tackle

That being said, what the frick was wrong with y'all last night? Dabo coached the last few series like he'd been on a week-long bender.

Many around the country did what you just described. It wasn't just Clemson

That's right. Williams and Cain were out for Bama which are their best 2 receivers

Good question, but I want to credit that Auburn front. They whipped our boys' asses up front most of the game. In the second half they finally got a little push up front, but Auburn didn't allow them an opportunity to establish some chemistry from the word go.
Felt the playcalling was off. I don't want to say vanilla, but we didn't utilize many of the screens and zone read plays that were successful last season. I don't know if they were being stubborn by not running Watson or what.
I also still can't believe Dabo didn't kick the field goal. I know you missed an extra point earlier, but if my choices are go for it on 4th & 4 or attempt a 35-yard kick to ice it, I'll try the kick every time. Of course, Gallman running out of bounds didn't help. Had he stayed in, I truly think the call would've been a shotgun snap to Watson, let him roll out and throw it in the stands and hope the clock hit :00

Yep. This was one crazy weird week in CFB. You have to go back to 1972 to find two top5 teams losing in the same week.

Clemson had the lead for most of the game and they knew our offense wasn't very good (plus they were on the road)... by nature you're gonna call a more conservative game under these circumstances. In the NC game, they were having to go blow for blow with an equally explosive offense... so your gonna take more risk, get rewarded (but also throw some picks).

@silverstreak02: I think they did play pretty vanilla. As you mentioned, there were a lot of "Bread and Butter" plays they did not call...I do think a large part of Dabo's strategy was to get Mike Williams in the game and takes some SEC defensive hits. After being out for an entire year it was good to see play so well. Watson normally spreads the wealth out a lot more than usual to the WR's but they were obviously featuring Williams and not showing much. I guess the felt they had enough control of the game to not open the offense up.
They did not want to run Watson at lot. They didn't roll the pocket often. They were content to keep Watson in the pocket as much as possible and shorten this game. Watson was definitely tight.
