From what I've seen, Bama and Georgia are on an entirely different level.

For a Big Ten team (or anyone else) to contend with them, you'd have needed to combine programs. Like some weird Ohio State/Wisconsin or Ohio State/Minnesota amalgam. tOSU's skill players, Minnesota's lineplay. Which is idiotic. And still probably not enough unless someone could magic Ibrahim's achilles back.

Recruiting matters. The talent difference from the top 2 to the top 7 or 8 is a bigger gulf than 10 to top 30.

I'd like to see that game. It would be interesting.

Yep. Cincy is better than Michigan. People were putting too much stock in their win over Ohio State. It was an upset.

Maybe - I was thinking this morning that it would be cool to have a conciliation game to determine 3 and 4. But a bunch of guys would probably opt out

Cincinnati would lose to every top 2 teams in P5 conferences. The same way they lost Friday, just football basics - run the ball, run the clock, stone them with defense.

Realistically who were they going to put in. Only 2 teams this year is any good

Notre Dame lost to Cincy
Ohio State. Had 2 losses
Ole Miss. 2 losses
Baylor. 2 losses

That ranking was manufactured to avoid having an immediate SECCG rematch. Unfortunately for the committee, it happened anyway.

The bottom half of the Big 10 sucks arse.

It really looks like the top half wasn't any better this year. Neither should have been but Cincinnati vs Michigan would have been competitive regional final.

Like one sage stated here, expansion means a participation award - ESPN (who really runs the show) and the NCAA are exhausted with what the SEC (particularly Bama) has done in the past.

The funny thing is - in their desire to increase viewership, they are willing to cheapen the game, as every regular season game will get devalued again. It will end up hurting College football in the end.

PS - And the playoff committee will continue to show their bias ensuring the 'Alliance' is properly represented against the 4 teams from the SEC they are forced to pick.

Ah yes, thats right.

ND would have faired no better than Cincy or Mich last night.

Depending on which OSU team showed up, they might have made either of those games a little more competitive.
