He hasn't recruited any or developed any talent. Nearly his entire team minus some holdover IU seniors was purchased.
How many underclassmen/first time starters started that game for BAMA vs IU?
The BigX will continue to dominate this era of college football because they will just purchase proven talent instead of developing it.
Has Cignetti done a great job? Yes. Has he had to recruit any highschoolers? Nope.
OhioSt had a super senior at QB last year and all over the field. Won the title.
This year- 1st year starter at qb- not so much.
Michigan had an entire team of super seniors the year before.
Uga had a 25 and 26 year old when they went back-to-back.
Burrow was 23. And such and so forth.
Cignetti didn't just come in and get a bunch of 3 star guys who were hungry to play championship football. He has a team of upperclassmen and transfers. Is his confidence contagious? Absolutely. But his roster isn't filled with corn farmers from Bloomington.
In the SEC they recruit 5 stars and the exceptional ones are in the NFL by the time they are 21 years old. 21 year olds are young on IU's team.
Don't be surprised if IU pulls this off.
