fricking shite man WHAT THE frick is Ray Tanner doing. We could've had this guy. Great mid major coaches are quickly getting hired away.

One tourney win since 2017 seems very unexciting. Polar opposite of hiring Howland after his final 4. We shall see how this one goes. If this crashes and burns, Cohen should be right out the door with him.

Dang man. Do you ever have anything positive to say? First, you wanted Howland fired (and he has been) and now with this apparent hire, you are already firing Cohen after Jans is fired for crashing and burning?

Just exactly who did you want be the new HC?

When it comes to mid-major coaches, got to look way more at the other aspects as well

Good hire. He almost rolled AU out of the NCAA tourney in the Final Four year. I think he does some of the stuff Chris Beard does on defense. He won't win any offensive style points but I would speculate he'll have MSU in the dance consistently if he can recruit some athletes.

All I was pointing out was that this was a polar opposite hire compared to Howland. Y’all took that out of context lmao. I think it could be a great hire I just didn’t expect him to make a hire without tourney cred.

Eta: you say i wanted Howland fired like thats a bad thing. He just took one of the more talented teams we’ve had and shite the bed. The game passed him by like 15 years

Gotcha. Obviously offense was our weakness this year. I think he will be able recruit well and add some guys who can shoot from the outside. Our defense should be fine going forward and hopefully he can have some good assistants that will propel our offense forward in the coming years.

As you noted , we will see what happens.

Good hire and good fit as MSU is the NMSU of the SEC.

from nm state board

It’s going to be hard to win at Mississippi State. They are not an SEC basketball powerhouse. The school may not give Jans the luxury of time to win there. Sometimes you have to weigh the options. Is it best to earn $500K guaranteed for probably 20 years, or go for the big paycheck and possibly be out of a job within 4 years? I’m sure Theus and Menzies might have done things differently if they had another crack at it.

Arguably Miss St is the worst job in SEC.
