All the West representatives from 1998-2002 were pretty bad, save 2001 LSU and MAYBE 1999 Alabama (who lost to LA Tech in Birmingham that year).

I don't think we were "back" last year, but just improved after the clusterfrick that was the previous 2 years.
That said, if one thought we were back last year, why would losing to the same team we lost to last year prove that last year was a big phony?

Shaun Alexander in his prime, beat a UF team twice (in OT in the swamp, then blew them out 34-7 second time around) that was ranked #5 coming into Atlanta while Bama was #7. Lost to a Tom Brady Michigan team by a missed XP in OT. Have to disagree with this one.

Picked last in the division, won it.
Picked to go 6-6 and went 10-4.
You tell me

LSU quit though. Maybe FSU is really good but it looked like a lockeroom culture problem as well from LSU's part.

LSU lost 4 games last year. That’s about right for them

Honestly their only decent win was against a down Bama team last year. They were definitely better but not “back” as you say.

Our coach won the SEC west in his second year after Orgeron skull fricked the program.
Kind of hard for that to be phony, don't you think?

I mean Tennessee quit vs South Carolina last year but you don't seem worried about that...

Remember when McElwain won the east with Florida and Florida fans thought they were building something? It’s like that.

The SEC West was abnormally bad last season. And, LSU beat Bama's worst team in a while. Beating Bama is why the media was predicting LSU would win the west again and predicting them to even be a playoff team. I never bought the LSU hype. Jaden Daniels skill wise can't take advantage of the skill players (WRs) on his team. And, Brian Kelly's piss poor DB recruiting and signing group of 5 talent DBs in the portal. I picked them to lose to FSU b/c FSU should've won the game last season by at least a TD. Norville is a superior coach to Brian Kelly.

2002 Arkansas says hi
Lost 30-3 to Georgia
Even 1998 MSU led eventual national champ Tennessee 14-10 in 4th quarter of the SECCG

The west was very down last year.

Last season was his second year, I thought it was his first. Which was the most impressive thing about it --- besides beating Saban for his first time, ever.
