I mean, wut????

Chip Kelly just scores points and plays no defense ... like Sumlin.

Texas A&M's point scored against SEC teams last year

Auburn - 29
Arkansas - 45
South Carolina - 24
Tennessee - 45 (OT)
Alabama - 14
MS State - 28
Ole Miss - 28
LSU - 39

A&M's offense has been a mess since Manziel left. If you think what they've been doing the last 2 years is basically the same as what Chip Kelly would do, well, that isn't smart.

No, not at all like Sumlin now. A&M's offense has been mediocre to bad since Manziel left.

If you had Chip Kelly's offense with A&M's defense the last 2 years those teams win 10 games.

chip kelly would be a homerun hire. i doubt it happens because he seems like a guy who wants to be in the NFL but i have no clue why people who are acting like it wouldnt

Texas A&M Offenses under Sumlin (post-Manziel) : Offensive S&P+
2014 - 15th
2015 - 55th
2016 - 30th

This idea that Sumlin is losing because his defense sucks is just not true. Their defense has been average to bad. Their offense has been incredible average.

Don't you know? All the great SEC defenses would destroy him! He's basically a white Kevin Sumlin!

The LSU grad/A&Ms AD should poach UH's coach again.

Ya, this is what I have doubts about. I think he likes the extra freedom of the NFL. Would defiantly be a great hire if A&M made it.

Chip Kelly would show up and immediately be the #2 coach in the SEC. With Texas high school ball the way it is, he'd be a terrifying force

Why bother firing Sumlin then? If you bring in Chip Kelly, instead of going 8-5, you will go 10-3 or 11-2 and lose most years to these teams regularly: LSU, Alabama, and Auburn. Not much difference now. You'd win flashier, you'd win more of the games you're supposed to win, but you won't fix your problems on the defensive side of the ball.

What the hell has happened to the high school coaches in Texas regarding defense? Has everyone just fell in love with the damn spread and forgotten that there's a whole other side of the game that is instrumental in determining the outcome of games? And how much would a smart coach frick with the other coaches minds out there if he decided to zig when the rest of them zagged by running a clock controlling power running game and a stifling defense? They'd shite themselves trying to deal with that if he were successful in pulling it off and I think you could.

Very interesting Chip did a lot of recruiting in Texas and probably built some relationships here, though some shady like Willie Lyle's. If he didn't get Tamu on probation I would bet very improved success for the program. Def an upgrade.

LSU and Alabama maybe. Not Auburn. Kevin Sumlin has a winning record vs Auburn.
