Based on what, exactly?

Chip Kelly would show up and immediately be the #2 coach in the SEC. With Texas high school ball the way it is, he'd be a terrifying force.

I hope Aggy forever runs the spread offense in the SEC.

I'm sorry, who is clearly ahead of Chip Kelly (other than Nick Saban) in the current SEC coaching ranks?

Kevin Sumlin? Jim McElwain? Dan Mullen? Butch Jones? Gus Malzahn? Bret Bilema? Ed Orgeron? Kirby Smart? Will Muschamp? Hugh Freeze?

With kids running the spread.

He'd have his defensive issues like he always has, but he'd run the shite out of his offense and have players to run it.

Where would you rank him among SEC coaches? I don't think it is a stretch to say he would be in the running for the #2 spot.

Chip Kelly went 46-7 and 33-3 in the Pac 12 at Oregon. He coached for 4 seasons and went to 4 BCS/National Title Games. He finished ranked in the Top 5 3 of the 4 seasons and ranked 11th his first season.

The previous 4 seasons Oregon went to the Holiday, Vegas, Sun and Holiday Bowls. They had never been to a BCS Bowl. He went to 4 straight. They hadn't won a conference title since 2001. He won 3 straight.

Yea, I think he'd be fine. Certainly better than all the other trash coaches in this conference.

Exactly, people like to poke fun of A&M's defense as a big issue in their mediocre seasons and it was but honestly their offense has failed them in a lot of those games down the stretch as well.

I think you could expect Chip to be much more consistent in that regard.

Not a spread based outside power concepts, no.

Also, did anybody watch the SEC last season? Half the league couldn't play defense.

Mississippi State, Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky and Ole Miss were some of the single worst defenses I've ever seen. The days of this league being 14 big awesome defensive teams is over. Half the league is pretty consistently mediocre to terrible on defense.

What would Chip Kelly do that Kevin Sumlin isnt?

Chip Kelly just scores points and plays no defense ... like Sumlin.

Seems like a waste of money for the Aggies to hire him if available.

That would be nice.

It would take a lot of luck and timing.
