Expect Texas and OU to make their formal application for admission into the SEC - effective June 30, 2025 - in the next 48 hours, the source said.

No way they wait until 2025. I think both will be playing SEC schedules in 2022

How likely is that though really?

Yeah no way this takes until 2025. But I understand them not wanting to say "yeah we are totally going to breach the contract we signed"

That's just legal speak because they have to say 2025 right now

No fricking way that happens, 2023 at the latest

Agreed. Especially if others in the Big 12 find landing spots

2022 is moving heaven and earth, logistically speaking. I think 2023 at the earliest.

Would be really really stupid to stay until 2025. Can you imagine one of those schools winning the Big 12 every year until then...while everyone knows they are leaving? It would be a horrible look for the Big 12

Hard to see this having been in the works since last December and it not coinciding with a 12 team playoff expansion. We will watch the last second tick off the national title game clock in 2022 and awake to a drastically different version of the game for 2023

Yes. That means it's NEVER happening if Chimp Brown said it.

Chip Brown is an idiot, and he's likely still predicting Saban to Texas.

So $76 million each..

I think the odds are against the Big-12 existing in 2025 much less Texas or Oklahoma being a member of it. I think it all depends on how quickly the ACC, Big Ten, and Pac-12 to poach the remaining 8. PAC-12 has a ton of motivation to be aggressive and they have a new commish trying to earn his reputation. It is not probable but definitely possible the Big-12 is dissolved by 2022.

Before adding Texas and OU, espn was reported offering $300million a year to televise the sec game of the week and the sec championship game. I wonder how much they will offer now when the new contract is negotiated? The $729 million was with the old cbs contract that was for just $55 million a year.

2021 - $45 million
2022 - $60 million with Texas OU
2024 - $76 million with Texas OU & New Contract

So $16 million increase x 17 = $272 million increase or about $325 million total

CFB is well and truly dead. I wonder how long the minors we're creating will last? The only one that has had any staying power so far has been the CFL.

if it was anybody other than Chip Brown, I'd believe it.

But now it's been cursed.

They aren’t really comparable imo.. unless the powers that be are total morons..

I want to watch the Texas Longhorns play sports..
I don’t want to watch the Austin Longhorns play sports..

These kids need to be in school. There needs to be rules.. let them get paid, they deserve it.. but it’s getting crazy fast.

Perhaps a draft each year and all kids get paid a salary & get a free education.. You could also block 5-10 schools from drafting you.. or maybe you select the schools you want to attend.. maybe have a transfer portal draft as well.. it would probably have to be geographically limited as well.. a kid from Miami prob doesn’t want to play at UDub.

This is a very slippery slope.. hope whoever is in charge knows what they are doing.
