never understood why SC named their swanky new fitness center after a Clemson grad known for his racism

Didn't he secure Federal funding for it or something? I've never gotten that worked up about Tillman. He is what he is.

He donated a portion of the money towards the $38.6 million dollar project.

Also to answer Tillman's question wondering why we named it after a Clemson grad:

quote:

Thurmond, who entered college at 16 and graduated in 1923, said he also is loyal to USC. He has received several honorary doctorates from USC, and two of his four children have gone there.

What's the difference between a "winning record" and an "overall winning record?" Sounds like some sort of qualifier a fan who pulls for a shitty team would use.

lol no it wasn't, it was a farm and manufacturing school not unlike A&M and Mississippi State. Yes, like many schools, it had a robust and notable ROTC program in the 20's and 30's but it was not the Citadel.

Jeez this makes me hate them even more

A good comparison is Virginia. Citadel - VMI, USC - UVA, Clemson - Virginia Tech. Schools have roles and CU was and is the Ag school.

Wait so we are like UVA?

Apparently we're 2-1 with the one probably deserving an asterisk because Chavis.

There was a real synergy between Miles and Chavis for a few years when LSU faced good teams.

Miles made sure there was no more than a one-score lead late in games, and Chavis made sure that lead vanished on the opponent's last drive.

Happened exactly like that twice during the 2012 season: Bama and Clemson.

Half of Clemson's 8 losses occurred before 1937 and 6 of our 8 losses before 1972..

But hey..I am glad you put value in the 1925 game..Good on you.

This is something as I UK fans I would certainly cling to with great fondness....We will just have to settle with looking out our football trophy case.....

only 2 out of the 13 games in the Kentucky Clemson series were played at Clemson.

Kentucky got 8 home games, and the other 3 games were bowl games.

Clemson actually won at Kentucky 21-3 during its 81 natty season.

Auburn has only played at Clemson 18 times in the 51 meetings. A lot of the games were played in Mobile or Montgomery but never in a SC city outside of Clemson.
