They were a senior dominated team this past year & lost a majority of their starters if I read right. He will be playing for a flash-in-the-pan weak ACC team & no one will ever hear of him again. Vandy would have been a good fit for him.

I think he’s pissed Tony demoted him to the bullpen because he wasn’t getting the job done as a starter this season. He pitched great out of the pen and had many clutch performances. Going forward it doesn’t make much sense because he’s easily the most talented pitcher on our roster. Can’t fault Tony for this at all, the changes he made saved the year. Transfer portal giveth and taketh away

At least the Vols can’t cry about LSU NIL money…imagine being in the SEC and Wake Forest is cherry picking your roster.

Andrew Lindsey- All American started 2nd half season. Lindsey gave up more than 3 runs once when he started this year. Swapping Burns and Lindsey was the biggest difference maker for this team. UT don’t go to Omaha with Burns starting. And UT don’t go to Omaha without his shut down performance in the NCAA tournament against Clemson, USM, and Stanford.
Vitello moved him to the pen and it turned the Vols season around. Vitello admitted once season was over they have known for awhile he was leaving once season was over. He wanted to be guaranteed a starting spot and Vitello wouldn’t make any promises. So he went to a place that would promise him a starting role. Last 2 season he has ended the season in the bullpen. He is a closer/long reliever at the next level and he refuses to accept that.

Wake didn’t cherry pick anything. He left because he was pulled from the starting rotation. This is the 2nd year in row he has ended the season in the bullpen. He almost transferred last year when he was moved to the pen. This year was the final straw. Vitello even admitted that they have known for awhile he was leaving once the season was over with. Burns refuses to accept the fact he’s a better long reliever/closer than starter.

He went where he was guaranteed a role as a starter and only as a starter. NIL wasn’t an issue, he left a better situation for his future for a huge NIL cut and a lesser program for the promise of being a starter.
