Alabama beat A&M worse than Clemson beat ND
Notre Dame has been ranked #2 for weeks regardless if they deserved it
Notre Dame, probably even more than Alabama, is the most celebrated program in the history of college football, again regardless if they deserve it.
Notre Dame vs Alabama will attract more tv viewers than any game so far this year. That makes for more ad revenue, so more money, and that's what it's all about.

The opposite is true.
If you can get in because you lost by four touchdowns to the only great team you played, beat an 8-3 team on a last second field goal, and played two extra games against opponents who finsihed 3-17, the CFP is a sham.
