This guy never took steroids, he even told you...

"Let me start by telling you this: I have never used steroids, period. I don't know how to say it any more clearly than that. Never."[6]

Finally..... Glad to see someone from the Newton's camp go on the record with denials.

Yeah, but it is one shitty denial.

There was a lawyer on one of the arkansas talk shows on today talking about the situation. He has no connection to the situation, but was just giving his legal opinion on what he thought the Newton's attourney(s) were doing.

Nothing groundbreaking, but he said by the information being leaked by both sides, it is obvious they are going to try to completely shelter Cam in all of this, placing the blame solely on his dad/handler/etc. He said his defense will be that he had no idea any of this was going on and without sufficient proof it would be a judgement call on the NCAA's side of things.

How many lawyers have you EVER seen answer questions about anything in a fricking parking lot when they are unprepared?

The shitty ones' who are about to get their 15 minutes.

Those guys do this shite.

but the one thing he said emphatically was that the Newton's hadn't taken ANY money from anyone.

Again, for the millionth time, do you think he's going to say that he has?

Even the best criminal defense attorney's will proclaim their clients innocence JUST IN CASE evidence is fricked up somewhere along the way and the client gets off.

He's the attorney, he get's paid to look stupid for the family.

Some lawyer's are great in situations like that i.e., being caught off guard in a parking lot, but others...eh.

That was a canned interview replete with question restrictions IMO.

Dude said that U of Florida will hear from him. :omg:

Funny how everytime that has been brought up to Newton or their attorneys they have continually stopped short of claiming the academic allegations are inaccurate.

Their entire focus is to deflect on the fact that his records got out.

This was a strategic release of information orchestrated by the Auburn/Newton camp.

If so, they need to work on their strateregy

We could all use some work on some things.

At least he said Cam didn't have academics problems at UF. Not sure why Cam wouldn't say the same when he was asked.

Listen....

This obviously wasn't the greatest legal moment of all time. Perry Mason would kick this guy's arse. I think we can all agree on that. However, The Barn has been on the end of an arse kicking for the better part of a week. At this point, any news is good news.

Actually, he just said the report wasn't accurate. That doesn't mean that Cam didn't cheat at UF, just that the report by Thayer Evans was not accurate. IMO, Cam cheated at UF, based on his and Cecil's reaction to that story, but that Cam was not referred through the normal channels at UF and he was not facing expulsion. Again, that is JMO.

I'm taking anything positive at this point. Any other fan base would too. I'm not delusional. I'm hopeful.

That's been Auburn's stance the entire time. The problem is with everything going on Auburn can't come out and officially say that to the press.

Do you think it will stick? I think it is the smart thing to do, but I don't think it is believable. The fact that Cam has already stated his dad decided where he was going to college makes it sound like they have a pretty tight relationship.

I have no idea about precedents with the NCAA. It seems they have a magic 8 ball when it comes to eligibility issues, ask the question, wait for the little triangle with the answer to float up, then notify the university of their decision.
