Hey buddy, it’s an online message board. No reason to spontaneously burst into tears of frustration.

We played the two #1’s, #2, #3 and #8 ranked teams in the nation that year, you played nobody
that’s funny - I believe we had one common opponent which was one of those #1s you mentioned. We fought hard but lost by a TD. But I’m sure A&M played them much closer, right? Right???

Actually, we had two common opponents as y’all played ok state in the Texas bowl (you know, the bowl game that gets a worse big 12 opponent than the Alamo bowl, i.e. a lower bowl game. But I’m sure those fightin Texas aggies beat them worse than Texas did, right? Right???

and had we ever lost to KU?
yes. In college station no less in front of that fearsome 12th man that has seen Texas and mike leach both dominate on that field.

I mean, not even Charlie strong or Tom Herman lost to KU at home. Guess that must be one of those Aggie traditions y’all try to tell us all about

If a NY6 bowl isn't in the cards, then skulldragging Harbaugh sounds like a damn good time.

Pretty much my thoughts. I'm pulling for Bama to drop one more, and open the door for A&M to get to Atlanta, but if not I don't see A&M getting higher than 4th in the pecking order behind UGA, Bama, and Kentucky, even if we win out which takes NY6 off the table for us.

Citrus Bowl against a top 10 Michigan would be very nice consolation price in that case. Definitely better than some boring AF ACC/Big 12 opponant.

Oklahoma is not gonna be one of the playoff teams.

If tOSU makes it then they deserve it with Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, and the Big 10 Championship left to play.

Cincinnati has SMU left on their schedule as an opponent of any competition.

Right now guessing, mine are:

Georgia Michigan (tOSU/Michigan State)
Oregon

The last spot is in the air to at least 10 other teams including Kentucky. Laugh, but if Georgia wins out and wins the SEC Championship game, and Kentucky runs the remaining schedule with their only loss being to the #1 overall BCS/AP/COACHES POLL team, then we are in the mix bigly.

That would be a dream setup for the Dawgs.

UT -A getting the Alamo bowl would be huge for them at this point

They should lose to Baylor and then we are on to the Bluebonnet/GalleryFurniture/Houston Bowl.

That was the freakish Mangino year where they won the Orange Bowl before firing Mangino and falling quickly back into the abyss.

Yes, no team could possibly survive that slate of games outside of Austin, TX.

You should be, but you won't be.

UK will have to win the SEC to get into the playoff mix. UK will not get in as a 1-loss non-champion over teams like Oregon, Ohio State, Michigan, and (as absurd as it is that they're even in the mix playing like shite against a pathetically weak schedule) Oklahoma. Even if you are objectively better than the other teams in contention.

Same reason A&M got left out in favor of a mediocre 6-win Ohio State team last year. College football is still partly a popularity contest.

I don’t see a real clear path for us to get into the CFP at 11-1. It’d take some real chaos for it to happen because of other SEC teams (like Ole Miss) who would be in that argument too potentially.

I think we win out and there’s no reason we’re not a NY6 team. CBS is banking on us losing one to two more games.

I mean... did y'all every survive that slate in the Big 12? Surely a&m's countless conference championships, BCS bowl appearances, and bowl game appearances/wins in general during that era would suggest yes, right?

Yes - gotta hand it to them. They'll play each of those teams, on top of Oregon in non-conference, and then most likely play in the B1G championship. If they can navigate that to the tune of a 12-1 record, then no question they should be in the CFP (to the chagrin of many college football fans I'm sure)
