In both targeting calls, the defender lowered his head and hit the QB with his helmet. Looks right. As far as the other call, I don't see what happened.

Complaining about refs is a requirement to be a LSU fan. Nobody does it better.

Here is the part you are missing...
quote:
No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder.

They look like correct calls. But I expected this ref complaints from you.
First one the L6u player launched hit helmet to helmet. Wasn't that hard of a hit but still was by rule the correct call.
2nd same thing H2H hit, he tried to jump over the L6u player o the ground ((Key) and hit QB High H2H. Key actually tripped him making it worse.
The 3rd one you can clearly see the #10 for L6u knock the CB down allowing #7 run free. It was a pick play by the WRs.
Not suprising how undisciplined L6u is considering it's a team coached by Captain Caveman Oeauxno. Yaw Yaw run da pick play, Yaw Yaw knock day qubee out da game bawhuh.

well the miss st defender was trying to tackle the LSU WR and the LSU WR was flagged for offensive PI

it tells me that the two-ish other LSU fans in here are fricking retarded and they are too busy melting to be rational
i don't think you have that excuse so you're probs just stupid

COULD YOU POST THE PICTURE WITH THE HOLDING CIRCLED VS BAMA FROM LAST YEAR? TIA!

The targeting calls were ticky tacky but correct. As for the Offensive PI, the LSU player cleared out the whole area, I'm not sure what there is to complain about there.

Those seem to be the correct calls.

bumping another player is now being called "not that hard of a hit" and gets you ejected?

and where was forcible contact delivered to the head or neck area? you pointed out that 92 was tripped which made it worse... see below
"Note 1: “Targeting” means that a player takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond..."

he is allowed to run his route. it's a standard wheel route. the miss st DB can't tackle him like he did, though.

Hardly an "attack" More like a bump.

That's your opinion.

I'll go ahead and agree with you and give you your first upvote, because I was seeing you losing 0-39 in that category.
Nobody wants to harp on calls from the ref after your team just got its arse kicked, because the optics are bad; but just on the merits of the calls themselves, this really does piss me off.
It's pretty clear that the refs got overzealous on this protect the passer agenda of theirs and went way overboard. "Zero tolerance" for anything is generally pretty stupid.
And I am the very opposite of the "let the boys play" crowd, because I absolutely despise people who make a habit of spearing other players rather than wrapping up and making a fundamental tackle... or for taking an extra two steps before leveling a QB.
But these were facemask-to-facemask taps based on momentum. In the first case, the defender went ahead and gave a little shove to the shoulders, but in the other case, he was already deflecting his body weight away from the QB. The calls were ridiculous and indefensible.
And please don't say that these types of calls protects the QB, because I've never seen anyone get injured from facemask-to-facemask contact from two players standing in upright positions. The truly dangerous and cowardly spearing is almost never facemask to facemask, and is almost always from players launching themselves high to try to do a knock-down, no-arm tackle. That very clearly applied to neither one of the situations from the game.
Absolutely terrible calls. Both of them.

For the gif in the OP, it looks like he doesn't trip until after he hit the QB.
