The two "targeting" fouls in the LSU/Miss St. game were such chicken shite calls. I can't believe football has come to this. They have helmets on for a reason. It's not just this game either, it's any team that gets penalized for this bs.

All three were perfect calls. 1 and 2 were helmet to helmet on QB and the third call was a pick play. You people are delusional.

Thank you. Is this so difficult for people to admit that that officiating crews enforce this penalty outside of the rulebook?

A better question would be why are you complaining? As the rule is interpreted by officials and generally accepted by coaches, players, fans, and God himself, AND consistently applied, the referenced plays are targeting infractions.

Why does the crown of your head need a facemask?

But it's not enforced consistently. I posted a gif from the Bama vs FSU on a previous page that should serve as reference.

The first clip is rarely even flagged for roughing.

It's as consistently enforced as roughing, holding, or many other judgement penalties. Some get missed. But the fact is, go high on a defenseless player, expect a targeting flag. In today's game, coaches have to drive that into their players. To do otherwise is poor coaching.

FWIW, the gif you posted looked like targeting to me. The main difference is that the Bama player didn't make helmet to to helmet contact, and that's the only way a player sometimes gets away with it. It still gets flagged far more often than not. Still doesn't mean the original plays you referenced were bad calls

Can we all admire how well MSU played -- in contrast to how terrible LSU played?

The targeting calls look like they were good calls. The PI call was bad.

Looks like two plays where the QB was hit helmet to helmet after releasing the ball, and a pick play. What's your point?

I'm so happy that these 3 calls won us the game.

Gotdammit, you are insufferable. It was targeting BY THE RULEBOOK. It was a force-able hit to the head/neck area. It doesn't have to be delivered with the crown of the helmet. The mitigating factors are these: the QB was defenseless, and the ball had been gone long enough that the DL could have avoided contact altogether.

By any measure (other than retarded measures) it was targeting.

Go watch the replay of #92's targeting. As soon as he hits the QB he looks at the official on his way to the ground. Almost like he wanted to get tossed

This meeting the definition of targeting and warranting an ejection clearly is not in the rulebook. Replay official confirming it should be suspended.

How? He made forcible, initial contact with the crown of his helmet to the qb's facemask?

So it's not fair?

Take this shite to the TigerRant bmy and see what kind of responses you get from the posters over there. You are a broken fricking record with this shite every season.

The saddest part of the pick play was that the LSU receiver had the guy beat and was going to make the wide open catch for a TD regardless.
