Let's presume P5, at least to start.

Could IMG Academy, or Westlake, or Thompson hold their own against UMass (0-4, lost games by an average of 40-3) or Vandy (0-9) or Bowling Green (0-5, average score 45-11)?

If not, what division would they start winning against lower tier teams?

The size difference between HS and College is way too much. Maybe a place like IMG, but for the most part there are players on the best HS teams that wouldnt even make a practice squad at most schools

They might hold their own for a quarter or two.

Nope

As bad as those teams are, most all those starters are scholarship players at the FBS level. Meanwhile, even on the best HS teams, the vast majority of players will not earn a single FBS scholarship.

Exactly....now basketball is a different story.

I would think the competition level would be DIII. I think the best high school teams could compete with the bottom of DIII pretty readily. Many high schools in Texas already have better facilities than a lot of small colleges now.

More likely than "Can Alabama Beat The Jaguars??", but only just barely. IMG is a football factory but it's not like every kid on their roster is a senior headed to a big time P-5 program, which is what you'd need for them to be able to hang with a bad D1 college program.

Not so sure.

The best players on schools like IMG or Grayson or even Marietta HS last year are better than the best players on low end P5 schools and almost all the starters at each of those schools had D1 offers.

They obviously wouldn't have the depth or maturity on the LOS but skill matchups would be interesting. They could survive a qtr or two IMO.

The best HS programs would crush DIII schools.

Skill positions would be a huge mismatch.

Correct . Right here in Alliance ,Ohio is a D3 program called Mount Union . They are the class of their league winning the conf title every year and always winning or playing in the D3 Natty .NOW , if you take the bottom feeder schools from the conference ( OAC ) ,like a Capital or Otterbein ,they would have their hands full with the top catholic powerhouses in Ohio like Akron Hoban ,Cincinnati Moeller and Cleve .St Ignatius for example ...These high schools could beat the bad D3 college teams

absolutely not

Think about it this way, it's news when any FCS team beats an FBS team. They usually get crushed, and those are all division 1 scholarship athletes. Even at the best high school programs, the vast majority of the players on those teams are not playing football in college at any level. The chances of a high school team beating a bad college team is less likely than a college team beating an NFL team.

Against power 5 teams? Hell fricking no. For instance, the kansas jayhawks would frick over img academy without question.

I've always wondered what people don't understand about it with questions like these. You are talking about a football team in college that has older, more mature players. Not only are they more mature, they are bigger, faster and stronger than high school kids. College teams at the power 5 level have a roster full of players that were all district at least in their respective areas and most of the time they're all state or better. It's just a different level of ball. The biggest and most glaring differences between hs and college teams would be at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The hs teams would get dominated at the line of scrimmage.

You aren't being serious are you? Do you remember being 17 and then being 20-22? Plus most good high school teams have maybe 3-4 players can play college football at some level. All players on college teams are college players.

DIII programs are almost High school like, some worse. MU feast on schools that dont even think about FB. Essentially club sports. Otterbein, John Carroll, Willington, etc...

The gap between the worst scholarshipped college/best high school program is FAR greater than the gap between the best college/worst NFL teams. So no. No high school team would beat an FBS or FCS team except in some miraculous fluke.

That being said, an all star team like IMG or even a really well coached powerhouse like De Lasalle or Mater Dei with a number of future DI players could beat many DIII schools regularly.

He's not talking about "most" HS teams.
He's referring to the best in the country.
IMG,Grayson,Westlake,etc

HS FB is no where close to what it was 20 or even 10 years ago.

Almost all these top schools are all star teams made up of the best players that all know each other from summer camps and almost all of their starters have D1 offers.

I’ll take worst college team and give 25 points to the all star high school team comprised of the best 22 players in all 50 states for $10,000.
