So we construct a gun range story.. But one guy had the gun out in his lap and the other under his seat. Do you not put them in a case, or trunk, or glove box.. I know I do when leaving the range. Don't have them sitting in my lap while smoking weed.

I always go from shooting guns at a range to smoking weed in my car at 2am.

..and I bet the range can verify if they were there the previous day.

Pretty certain, that's only the case if you actually stole the gun or knew of who stole the gun.

Its a known or should have known standard.

So it is gonna depend on where he got it.

Why would you not get a firearm checked out before you bought it from a private seller? It's one of the easiest things to do to prevent yourself from buying something that's stolen, local law enforcement will do it for you, or even gun shops.

Not all local LE will do it and Indon't know any that will do it without the gun in hand. NCIC use is logged and audited. If they run a serial and it comes back stolen, they better be able to produce the gun because the agency that entered it into the system will be calling. Gun dealers do not have access to NCIC so I have no idea how they could instantly tell if a gun has been reported stolen.

ITT a bunch of random Alabama fans suddenly become experts in Louisiana criminal law. It's impressive how quickly they mastered one of the more complex legal systems in the country. Kudos.

According to the report, the pair of players had been shooting guns at a range earlier that night but did not take them home. Robinson reportedly bought the gun a year ago, did not know it was stolen but never got it registered.

Very convenient.

Nicely done.

The level of dignity in this whole thing shown by the coaches and fans from Alabama is just what you can expect: PURE TRASH.

So glad the truth is coming to the surface.

Maybe the corny dog smear campaign will slow down a bit.

Did they have drugs? Yes or No

Did they have stolen gun ? Yes or No

I must not understand the "legal thing" very well.
Are there other answers to these questions?

I don't like what Cam did and would have no problem booting him but the salt this has produced has been so delicious.

Victimless crime. People here acting like he's the Unibomber. Get over yourselves.

"Didn't know the gun was stolen" is apparently only a valid excuse is you play football for the University of Alabama. I'd like to see a judges reaction if a normal person said that in court.

And I've owned several guns and I'm pretty sure that "registering" them isn't a real thing anywhere near here.

You might want to check the law. It is an affirmative defense whether you play for Alabama or not. If you can show you had no reason to suspect the gun might be stolen, the judge's reaction will be to say "not guilty".

Also, Auburn fans might consider holding their rocks just in case the house turns out to be made of glass. There is a case going on right now in Lee county involving guns that could drastically change the way an incident that happened last summer is perceived.

This goes for anyone. Rule#1.If you buy a used weapon always take it to a police station and have them run the SN. Have the bill of sale with you. If it comes back as stolen and you have the BoS you will only be out what you paid for the weapon.
Cam should have followed rule #1.

Guns do not have to be registered in Louisiana or Alabama.

Seems like an ignorant made up excuse. It will not fly with the judge.

I think they need to realize we aren't Auburn. Saban doesn't recruit POS thugs like they do. These men have been model citizens before this temporary lapse in judgement. A few stadium bleachers will solve that.

Pathetic. A coach who actually cared about more than just winning would've already kicked them off the team.

Read the post directly above yours dipshit. If I'm buying a handgun I'm sure as hell at least getting a bill of sale. A flatscreen is rarely used as a murder weapon.
