Do they need to be registered in LA or AL? I didnt think so

No, but a smart person buying privately would probably check to see if it's a legit firearm or not so you don't run into carrying a stolen firearm later, just saying.

What country do you people live in?

There are states and cities in this country where you need to register a handgun

I also just saw you need to be 21 in LA to own a handgun, looks like he is under that age as well

He paid the Iron Price.

..or maybe just a nod and a wink as payment from that booster.

It's not illegal to buy a gun as a private sell. It's also not a law to have it registered as far as I know. Which means he really did nothing that he shouldn't have done. Many of us on this board have purchased guns from friends that I guess technically could be stolen. We can argue that the law shouldn't allow that, but reality is that the law says that's perfectly legal. The police should be able to trace it back to who actually stole the gun and arrest the real criminal.

I expect his charges to be reduced, and Saban to suspend him for 1-2 games.

So he is still in possession of a stolen, unregistered weapon

What exactly is an "unregistered" weapon in AL, MS, LA, GA, etc?

Stolen is one thing but if can show that he bought the weapon from someone it isn't his responsibility.

Saban has basically said from the beginning if he wasn't in jail at game time, he would play.

I was just asking because I think if he said he paid a price that is substantially below fair market value the law says he should have been aware that it was stolen.

IDK man. When I was in college, my friends and I always used to go get high and shoot handguns at gun ranges late at night.

Also it's one thing if he bought this from a store and didn't get it registered/checked, but, it's pretty clear he didn't exactly do that.

Why in the world would you not get a weapon checked you are buying off joe blow?

Really don't understand why Hootie isn't taking full blame so Cam can get back on with his life and play ball for the Tide

Is there also a law about carrying un registered firearms between states.. Was it at his place of residence in LA or did he bring the gun from Alabama.

You have to be 21 to buy from a retailer, not to own a handgun. Private transactions are loopholes, and no, handguns don't have to be registered in LA.

Like I said, this report adds nothing new, except a fluff story about what he was doing with the gun before he was caught with it that will have no bearing on what happens. He'll plead down to a misdemeanor and miss one game at most.

Given this new information and the fact that the charges will be reduced or dismissed altogether based on history.

Cam won't miss any games.
