Cam Coleman and Ryan Williams suffer from the same malady.
They have always been the most physically gifted player on the field. They get adoration and fame - relative to high school students. They get huge NIL deals. People fight over them in recruiting. They get to college and they work enough. But don’t do too much extra. They are rich and they are stars. They don’t put in the extra work. They take a play off here and there. They don’t really practice what receivers do - catch the football. They drop easy routine catches because they don’t focus on them, just take them for granted. Drop after drop. But throw up some circus catch and their focus is on just getting to the ball. They don’t even think about catching it, just showing off they can get to the ball. And they catch it. Natural talent just took over. And ALSO, a big one, on routine catches they are already focusing on the run after catch, but forget to catch the ball first. But that is also practice remedied.
