just took him longer to develop than some.
That's what I said, and imo that precludes him from being the best ever UA qb. Best in a single year? Ok, but not best ever, otherwise he'd have been starting sooner than the last year.

It's a good bet that the coaches didn't want him running the ball unless necessary since the qb depth is not good, to be kind.
Since the offensive line sucks, though, the coaches probably eventually advised him that if the receivers are covered and if it's there, take off and slide down if possible before taking a direct hit. I mean, he's getting hit on the regular in the backfield anyway, so why not.
I’ve been thinking the same thing all season. He was at bigger risk of getting injured staying behind the LOS too long than just tucking and running for even minimal gains with a slide.

I’m happy with him. Makes good decisions most times. Needs to get more comfortable running. He has a high ceiling

Stetson Bennett
Doesn't have enough passes per game to be on most of the stats.

And you have his picture taped on the ceiling above your bed to prove it
Aww, you would too if Kirby could ever find a QB worth anything.

Wow. Pretty clear why he only brought up QBR.

Bryce Young is a Tua clone

Nah. Bryce actually has the ability to throw the ball away.

Has way less talented receivers than Tua or Mac did and still puts up 300 yards a game

He has better decision making than Tua did as a Soph, and he's much better than Mac was as a Soph in both running/passing. I imagine in his 3rd (and God willing 4th) year he'll be every bit as accurate as Mac was in his, or Tua was for most of his tenure at Bama, with a more dynamic run game at his disposal

He ran in high school a good bit if you watch his tape.
He runs about a 4.5. It's not blazing but it is fast enough to run circles around most highschool defenders. He probably didn't play many D Linemen or LBs that could run him down. A year of practicing against a defense full of teammates that can run his arse down likely taught him some self preservation. He is well aware of how Tua's body handled the unnecessary hits.
