Bama is good, not elite this year. Our OLine needs a lot of work. We’ve got to be able to establish the run. Our receivers have got to stop dropping passes.
Our defense needs to tighten up in the run game, especially with mobile QBs. Defense is really good but has got to tighten up on run plays.
We have got to cut down on penalties. We have too many this year

We still suck at the blocking stuff.

Our DL is probably, collectively, the best I can remember, better even than when Myles Garrett and Daeshon Hall were playing there. With that said, every member of the front 4 will likely be gone after this season. The second team, as talented as they may be, need to step it up because there will be some huge shoes to fill and a lot of opportunities, and I think they could have played better during the last few minutes of play. Our OL is inexperienced, but talented and they need to get better in a hurry. Calzada needs to manage the clock better. I think Jimbo must have worked with him quite a bit from game 2 to game 3 because there was some improvement there. We are not a high tempo offense, but I think a change of pace and ability to do either a fast paced or dominate time of possession would be helpful depending on game situation awareness and clock management.

Just watched the no-huddle rewind. The DL is great, though the linebackers have to get better about plugging gaps correctly. The defense is overall pretty awesome. Hopefully Trainor doesn't play much going forward on OL, because he is terrible. Our best OL overall may actually include two true freshmen, which is scary. We have some decent receivers, and Calzada is okay from the pocket. I always wince when he's out of the pocket and looking downfield, because he makes some very dumb decisions, and he cannot sense pressure at all.
Next few weeks will make or break this season.

Need to eliminate the drops and the online needs to learn to handle noise. Do those things and we win by 14. Obviously the run d played bad

Trainor only played because Robinson was out. Even then he got pulled in the 3rd quarter for Fatheree.

Somebody had too. He probably told them all week it was going to be a physical game. Since we weren't he was.

Alabama
I think Alabama is a team with a great deal of talent. I do not think they exhibit the competitive qualities of a great team. They’re not tough. QB rather flip a risky pass than lower his head to get a game sealing TD on 3rd down. They’re not able to play without scoreboard watching. They get up on teams and let off the gas way too early. They haven’t shown they can compete with a high level of consistent performance for a whole ball game.
Honestly, if I were a betting man I’d be betting on Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin to provide the world with the first former assistant victory over Nick Saban. Alabama hasn’t show that they can play more than 15-30 minutes and I don’t think that’s going to get it done again an improved Mississippi squad. Might as well happen in 2 weeks because I don’t think these young men are going to learn how to compete like Saban demands without learning that lesson in a loss.

There you are. A Ga Tech fan checking in. The Bees are so stupid they actually think they are fooling someone. And you are the worst I’ve come across in a while. The bumblebees are absolutely obsessed with UGA. It’s Georgia on their mind 24/7 365 days a year.

Insightful. What about Saban? Do you think he is a good coach?

I know your roster got depleted with Portal transfers but Tennessee is playing hard and looks organized on both sides the ball. Under Pruitt Defense was always prepared but Offense was sketchy. Much more balanced looking team.
The portal took a lot but also gave back a lot. But the Vols are still 20 something short of the 85 limit. If not for super SRs it would be untenable.
The D overall looks better. They are not getting gnashed for long stuff and can sorta cover a slant. They look a lot more confident and aggressive.

Imagine a team that is as soft as a Kevin Sumlin team but without the creativity on offense. That is A&M right now. It's like Kevin Sumlin running a Les Miles offensive system.

AU:
1) The OL, which is supposed to be the weakness, was perhaps the strongest unit on the field (next to RB's).
2) Mason is a zone defense guy. While we (mostly) stopped big pass plays, PSU still dunked down the field.
3) Tank was great as usual.
4) Jarquez Hunter is gonna be a beast.
5) Bo Nix is still inaccurate on deep balls.
6) Our WR's didn't help Bo much. Too many drops, etc. We still don't have a "go to" guy.
7) We had no pass rush at all. QB had 6-7 seconds in the pocket on numerous plays. That is not sustainable and you CAN'T expect even future NFL corners/safeties to cover that long.
8) Our run defense is stout. PSU had 386 yards of offense and only 80 of it was on the ground. I'll take it.
9) Bobo tried to get cute a little too much. Many of us AU people were screaming "Run the damn BAWLL."
10) Auburn played good enough to win, which is why it's frustrating. Even though I critiqued the defense, they only gave up 386 which is pretty decent in modern college football against a top 10 team. Even with their flaws, they played good enough to win. The game was truly a 3-4 play game, as many close games are. 3 or 4 plays determined it.
All in all, I am not too down on the team. It's not like we lost to Vandy, we lost to #10 PSU on their field in a close game. I am anxious to see how the team rebounds in conference play.

Read past the first sentence and you might understand the full context of the statement.
Also my hot take is that Nick Saban is a good football coach.

Slade Bolden shouldn’t be on the field. He’s mediocre at best.
It was a humbling experience yesterday, but something to build on. Every team needs a close game.

This. We are a good team, and most teams would love to have the win/loss record that we will end the season with. But, we are not going to repeat as national champs.
