This is more impressive if you include that this number is 44.5 ppg. Even more impressive if you consider his two seasons prior he averaged 44.2 and 43.8.

One of the networks did a story on this a few years ago,they went back and reviewed every point he scored over his three years. They determined that if there was a 3 point line when he played, his average would have been 56 points per game.

Maravich averaged over 44 PPG, which is INSANE.

No one in the SEC, or college basketball in general, has ever come close.

Allan Houston at Tennesse is the only other SEC player that comes to mind, and I think he averaged only around half of that.

And it’s even less impressive if you consider pace and level of competition.
