Oh, cherry-picking.
Cool new concept. That's new.
Hilarious.

Oh you picking cherries today? That must be what Kentucky folks do in the off season. Enjoy your downtime.

No? Casual fans/media will gravitate to a player like Flagg over Broome though. Flagg had greats stats against far inferior competition. Broome should win it but he won’t. It’s not that big of a deal.
From roughly new years on in, both the ESPN and CBS Sports websites were running minimum 2 stories a week on the “Cooper Flagg Watch !!!!!” chronicling the #AmazingSh!!t Flagg did that week against Pitt, NC State and Cal. Riveting.

Explain to everyone here how your 5th year 22 year old is athletically superior to the Freshman 18 year old. Broome plays 5 ft. and in 90+% of the time. So I can't wait to hear how versatile he is.
Broome is a center. The last four winners were centers who played with their back to the basket.
Watch some basketball or something.

The story of Cooper Flagg was always going to win out when you realize that all the voting was done by a bunch of people who write stories for a living.
The great white hope coming out of bumfricked Maine a year early to give college basketball its long-needed star player and eventually take the NBA by storm? And he goes to Duke? Yeah, you aren't getting votes against that.

Before he committed to Duke he was already expected to be the number one pick in the draft. The hype machine has always been full tilt for him. Broome is not a generational player and he is penalized for it. He is more like a Tyler Hansborough or Oscar Shiebwe because he plays above his pegged draft positioning due to size or injury concerns.

The hype machine was full tilt for that rail thin 7 footer out of Gonzaga too and he sucked in his first year. He sucked so bad they couldn't give the award.

How is any of that relevant in who is the NPOY?

I think Flagg will win it because all these voters know he’ll be a better pro. He’s a generational talent and I don’t begrudge him the award.
But Broome is a better story. He has been a warrior. He gets the absolute max out of his talent. Consistently delivering for his team in the clutch while being stitched together with duct tape and bubblegum. He’s tough as a new piece of rope.

Flagg will win because a lot of sports writers like sucking on Duke dick.
He's a great player and should be a good pro, maybe better than Broome, but what Broome has done this year (not to mention the two prior) against superior competition should win it for him.
You'd think sports writers might like a guy who sticks with a program for 3 years and who comes in unheralded and works himself into position to contend for the NPotY over a flashy one and done.

Are you talking about Chet Holmgren?
He was an all-american at Gonzaga as a freshman before being picked 2nd overall. He's had a couple of injuries but is a very good pro on one of the top teams in the league.
Pretty terrible analysis to say he "sucked".

He was An All American because of his name. He was good against Pepperdine maybe. He was soft as baby shite.

Auburn fans don’t know about the NBA beyond their milk dud looking idol Sir Charles.
They also are still pretty new to caring about college basketball.
