Nothing to be ashamed of in a transition year like this after a nightmare last year, but LSU isn't exactly doing anything to prove people wrong from the preseason. They are basically what everyone expected. Better than last year but one of the worst 2 or 3 teams in the SEC.

LSU has 5 wins over rpi top 40 teams. I wouldn’t have said that was going to happen at the beginning of the season. In fact none of this board would have ever thought that.
To say LSU isn’t playing significantly better coming off its worst season in over 50 years is pretty much just saying you have no idea what you’re talking about
Also LSU is one game out of last but what, two games from being in the top 5? I’m on my phone but everyone in the conference is beating the shite out of each other

But almost everyone thought they'd be better than last season. They have better players and they flat out quit about halfway through conference play last year.
The overwhelming majority of people said "LSU will be better, but the league as a whole will be better, and because of that they will still probably finish towards the bottom of the conference".
They won a few games early that I didn't think they'd win, but they were a bit more talented than I thought they'd be (especially Waters). However, they'll probably finish around 16-14/15-15 and go 7-11/6-12 in the SEC, somewhere between 10-14th. Not awful, better than last year, but certainly not some sort of magical Hoosiers story.

Lots of idiocy in this thread:
1. Sims and Rachal suspended for one game.
2. The other two barely played at all, and were not likely to be on the team next year. This will not hurt LSU at all.
3. Jeremy Combs did not quit the team. He is a grad transfer who has battled injuries. He reinjured his ankle and it ended his career.

Entire bench? Did you even actually read any of this? It's 2 players, the 2 that dont even play. The other 2 players are suspended for ONE game
So yes, we lost 2 players who dont even play. Not exactly the end of the world
