To save the bowls, just play them week 1 of the next year. Attendance would be up, there would be no opt outs. Fans could travel to neutral site games against unique opponents. TV would love it.

What is the down side?

For playoff teams, mix them up to play new matchups of the 12 that didn’t happen in the playoffs. Example: semifinal teams match up against the team they didn’t play. Of the 4 opening round losers that’s 2 games. 4 QF losers that’s 2 games.

The only way bowls can survive is to start paying players’ purses with a little more going to winners.

Ole Miss wouldn’t be able to open against Furman or Georgia State in this scenario.

Get rid of ccg play bowls that week. 12 bowl games winners all go to playoff. Give acc, big, big 12, and sec one auto bid. 16 team playoff. Guarantee the g5 champs bowl access.

depends on the site and the matchup.

NC State vs Memphis ain't bringing a massive crowd to Tampa no matter when you play that game.

several.

there's at least 3 current bowls played in MLB Stadiums.
I doubt those teams would want their fields used for a 1 time football game in the middle of the season.

then look at the locations of a lot of the Open Air Stadiums.

the bowls are located where they are to capitalize on northern fans traveling to warmer climates in the winter time.

not a lot of people will be begging to travel very far to sit outdoors in Tuscon, AZ or Mobile, AL, or even Dallas, TX in August.

leaving snow and ice for mid 60's possibly even flirting with 70's weather?
a shite ton of people will sign up for that.

leaving low-mid 80s and heading toward mid 90's, possible triple digits?
yeah that's not nearly as attractive.

Do bowls after the 9th game of the regular season. If you opt out for the bowl game then you opt out of the remainer of the season. And that goes for the team optioning out as well.

Now where is that dam sarcasm button Chicken?
