IMO most of the “Dallas” market could care less about SMU

Correct. Wealthy arse dudes from highland park that are in their 60's-70's are smu fans. Noone else cares, including their students.

Well, it isn’t season performance as much as it is did you play in your conference championship. Because SMUs season schedule sucked. Might as well put MAC, CUSA in as well. That’s all we care about.

Can't penalize them for losing a conference championship game when Bama didn't even make it to theirs.

And yet that’s exactly what’s going to happen

Alabama is in and it's silly to think otherwise. Nobody gives a shite about SMU.

If we get in fine,if not ok but every single SEC team if they re smart should start canceling contracts for future non conference opponents and play every cupcake they can find.

To be honest the SEC was crap in OOC this year. UGA and SC beat Clemson, but nobody else won a meaningful OOC game. And other than A&M playing ND and maybe MSU playing ASU it wasn't like they were playing great OOC matchups. We had SEC teams lose to Georgia State, Cal, Southern Cal and Louisville.

The way you keep the bad teams out is to win those cross sectional games from top to bottom.

Yes, there are people in Dallas (very important people) who care about SMU.

TV execs and advertisers don’t care about the few rich dudes investing in SMU football.

They want to know if putting SMU in a playoff game will draw the millions of viewers that Alabama would, especially if playing Notre Dame.

Dallas is a big market.

With every game in TV, it’s not about markets anymore. It’s about two things:
1. The size of a fanbase.
2. Ability to attract viewers from other fan bases.

Not sure what you were watching and looking at last night.

SMU is in over Bama per nearly all predictions.

It's really more about the backlash and credibility of the committee. If SMU gets in no one but Bama fans will bitch. If Bama gets in after their season there will be backlash from everyone over the conference championship game punishment to the sec bias for 4 teams in and so. The fact they let the same team in last year and they lost round 1 will be threw in it. The committee won't have anywhere to turn for excuses.

No, it's about money - which is why there's even a conversation about it. There's no way a 3-loss team should get in over a 1-loss (regular season) team that played for a conference championship.

But since it's Alabama, i.e. viewership, i.e. money, there's a manufactured debate that never should even be considered.

Compare any of their games to any of Bama's (besides Mercer) - we quadrupled their viewership. You are just being obstinate

Or you are. Seriously. Do you really think Alabama fans are as pumped about football now as they were when Saban was in year #3 or #4? This is all new to SMU. They are pumped.
