Why are you against these kids getting paid for their services?
I'm not, even now college scholarships for football players at high tier schools are estimated to be valued around $150k per year.

Why should coaches be given millionaire salaries,
Schools don't pay coaches "millionaire salaries."

most states having a college coach as the highest paid public employee in the state, and fans will find a way to justify why that's acceptable
It isn't hard to justify.
College teams have to compete with pro teams for coaches.

No they don't.
They choose to, but they don't have to.

Better coaching gives you a competitive advantage, both on the field and in recruiting.
Coaching is also another benefit college players receive.

You act like that’s a good thing
Nope it's just a reality and it's part of the reason for it's success.
No idea why so many wanna kill the greatest sport in the country.

If players think they can get a better deal playing football between 18-20 than they do at Div 1 schools, they are free to pursue it.

When do you propose conferences/schools stop giving into player's demands?

With that, you've just destroyed CFB.
And I do not care one single bit.
I said EVERY athletic scholarship, too. No more. Get into a school on your academic merits, then try out for a team. Period.
Let someone with deep pockets and enough interest go the route of building a semi-pro developmental league. If it is viable, the pros will lap it up. If not, more athletes will get serious about education and the opportunity to play a sport while pursuing that education.

If being a student athlete is so terrible I guess they could just go work construction or at a grocery store or something.

The cry on here if they all actually did this would be hilarious.
Maybe from some, but I assure you 100% it wouldn't come from me.
If one good thing has come from the corona shite, it is that it helped me realize that sports really matter frick all to my life.
I can also assure that if every student athlete packed their bags and went home, the impact on them and their futures would be numerous times worse than most anyone on this board.

They were forced to do that without any other options. College athletes willingly enter into a contract and receive tuition plus books and tutors, furnished apartment with all bills paid, gourmet food, health care which includes physical, mental, dental, orthodontics, eye care and they get access to top notch exercise equipment plus world class physical trainers. Add all of that up and that's more than a lot of people that are working full time get paid.
We should just give them the cash value of all that and make them pay for it as they please. Don’t want to pay, don’t receive the service. I don’t think they would like that option, though

Perfectly reasonable demand considering the talent put on the field.
I wholeheartedly believe that all of us should be in favor of...
Wait...
What...

I'm sorry, I jumped to the conclusion that SEC players were doing this. Carry on.

That's another option:
Make them employees. Give them a base salary comparable to other semipro athletes.
They will now be required to pay the full cost of their college tuition. The only thing provided for by their employer will be transportation to and from the games, lodging, and a reasonable portion of healthcare. They will be afforded access to training facilities. Just like any other college employee, they will be required to pay everything else. Housing will be based on the market rate. Their spot on the roster will be determined by performance (athletic and academic) only, and their standing will be reviewed at the end of each season.
Pay will be determined by a scale directly tied to roster position. Starters get the most, on down the depth chart gets less.

Are you suggesting there isn’t another market that is demanding their services? If so, doesn’t sound like they have much to negotiate with..

That Coach's career is essentially over
The AD is in deep shite, he got a Coach that he has to pay that will never Recruit talented players, and his Players will never play hard for him
First of all, there was no reason for the HC of WSU to come out this early with unsolicited opinions
For all we know this thing might have died out on its own without 1 word from the HC
The HC did it to get some attaboys from the Alums but when he's on the Recruiting Trail he's gonna regret this big time
Now the NCAA is gonna step in and give them immediate eligibility, in fact the Conference might let them transfer in Conference
No reason for the HC to show his cards this early in the process, I know their AD is pissed to high hell over this
