UGA made the SEC title game. Bama didn't. That's some massive mental gymnastics to call that dodging Bama.

Athens wasn’t as cool as everyone says. College Station beats it 100 times.

Smart got to the national championship game. Richt never did that.

Smart got there, thanks to a playoff, in his second season. Had a playoff existed in Richt's second season with Georgia, he too would have gone to the playoffs. Both men had the exact same record (12-1) after the SEC Championship Game in their second season at Georgia.

If the same rules would have applied to Smart in 2018 as they did to Richt in 2002, Smart doesn't go to a national championship game either.

Georgia wasn’t the number 2 team in the nation going into the playoffs. shite Auburn had just beat that arse 41-17 two weeks before.

That image is literally the projected BCS rankings at the time of the final CFP rankings... You can make of it what you want... but if we're hypotheticalling Richt into a playoff, let's at least acknowledge the hypothetical of what would have happened without a playoff and the BCS continuing.

If you used the old BCS ranking they would have been. That's already been posted in this thread.

Fact

Kirby has more talent by far than any team not Bama or OSU. Not on championship to show for it.

They have been loaded and are still one of the most talented teams in the country BY FAR!!

So how does Alabama do with Stetson Bennett at QB in '20 or LSU in '19?

Obviously QB is THE most important part of any team who wants to contend for a NC.

For LSU to absolutely MURDER them

LSU murdered everyone towards the end of the season and beating them without almost all our top skill players out wasn't gonna happen.

quote:

Bama to rip out their hearts, during that period of recruiting lights out, has baffled me

The NC game vs Bama "baffled you?" How so? Bama was favored, had a far more talented roster and had 12 players drafted to UGA's 6. It's baffling that Bama won in OT????

Fast forward to the 2018 SECCG. Bama was on an unprecedented run
with an AVERAGE victory margin of 29 pts vs conference opponents. They were considered a GOAT but many observers and a 13 PT favorite in the SECC and pulled out a 7 PT victory with less than 2 mins to go but this is "baffling" to you?

quote:

This isn't a knock on them
Of course it is

quote:

SHOCKED to see Bama basically do to them what LSU has done...

Would love to have played Bama again with JT and WITHOUT the officiating crew in Tuscaloosa that night.

quote:

all fairness, they weren't at full strength... Kirby has ZERO excuses

Which is it?

Umm what the frick is this?

There’s no chance in hell. Outside of cultish weird shite and Bama dick sucking- Athens wins in every single category.

It’s pretty simple. Just like LSU. They have lacked both a QB and offensive ingenuity.

You can recruit all you want, but if you don’t have a top level QB and potent offense, you're going nowhere in today’s college football.

Maybe don’t start some trash arse Jake Fromm over heisman finalist Justin fields then

Up in 2018 too. I think y’all were #2 and we just destroyed you.

Who are you talking about? Swift, Fromm, Pickens and Zamir we’re all available for that arse whipping. Don’t make excuses now, boy

This response shows how much it meant to you.

You let a true freshman QB, RB, WR and LT come in and you lost the national title 45 min from your campus.

Would love to have played Bama again with JT and WITHOUT the officiating crew in Tuscaloosa that night.

This is a great point. Clearly they would have only lost by 2 or 3 TDs. I mean look how mighty they looked with JT in that 24-21 win over Cincinnati....

Which is it?
It’s 41 years. That’s what it is. Because your coach is a hell of a recruiter. And a garbage game day coach

But judging by your emotional responses you already know that don’t you?

The point of this thread is Booger trying to say that Smart has done less than Richt which is demonstrably false.

By year five, Richt had 2 SEC titles and Smart has 1 SEC title. Smart got a bit closer to the summit in 2017 but that was only because of the 4-team playoff. Smart finished #3 in the final 2017 season CFP Poll and Richt finished #3 in the final 2002 season BCS poll.
