I don't think any serious person is laughing at Nix. Not really sure how you could. Regardless of how things turn out, he's a gamer.
As an AU guy, I've never really expected the world from Nix. But we all know the value of a "very good" (even if not great or elite) QB in the SEC who is around for 3-4 years. In general Auburn has not had that, and consistency is something a lot of us really want, even if Nix is never a top Heisman candidate or leads us into the CFP.

Say what you want about Gus, but trying to say Auburn has no weapons is laughable and shows you're just talking out of your arse.
Auburn has one of the best groups of returning WRs in the SEC, and a mostly unproven unproven but deeply talented pool of RBs

Ask any Auburn fan and they are virtually glad the OL from last year is gone. Kim(C) and Horton (RG) were horible.
The OL will be much improved, with the new OL coach from Ole Miss, Jack Bicknell. He has NFL ties and has really had them more focused on fundamentals and playing tough.
