Dumbass.

quote:

In college football, "blue blood" refers to programs with a long and rich history of sustained excellence, marked by consistent winning, numerous national championships, and a strong national brand

As others have pointed out, the list of blue bloods is relative static and having a down period does not eliminate someone from blue blood status. Nebraska being the notable exception. Also, having a decade or so of elite performance does not make one a blue blood.

I would say there's a solid group of "new bloods" you could put in a category

Miami
FSU
Florida
LSU
Georgia
Clemson

That's a total of 20 Natties since 1980 right there

Also, funny how no one has commented on whether Tennessee is a blueblood...or Penn State...

I don’t know if I wouldn’t have Southern Cal in the next 4 instead of the top 5.

UGA isn’t a blue blood … sec schools really have a hard time with this… blue bloods win titles ….

You don’t erase titles …. Blue blood doesn’t mean who is hot over last 20 years …. For as much as you guys claim to know about football half of the people on this board really have zero clue ….

Oklahoma fan saying conference titles don't matter lol. OU is ranked #1 in conference titles

I think its a good category to determine success...

Winning a championship over 8 to 12 teams should not a measure of blue blood status. National Championships, All Americans, Heismans, top 10 finishes etc and all being fairly consistent throughout the modern football era should dictate who the Blue Bloods are.

All these made up national championships from the early 1900s are just laughable. Congratulations beating 8 teams with 3 of them high schools back when half the US was still wide open wilderness

Yall “Blue Bloods” keep beating yalls chest. The only reason yall bark about it now because your programs are God awful right now. Since nil has started programs like Ole miss and Missouri, have past up yalls programs when it comes to winning.

You've got to put Oklahoma in there. Along with Texas and Michigan.

Too bad we’re a way better program than yall now. How times have changed. You’re the only big university in the state and still can’t compete. Hahaha

C'mon now. You are just being plain stupid.

Why would we LSU fans be butthurt over this? No one has ever claimed LSU as a blueblood.

Stop being stupid.

So does the cowboys count as a “blue blood” in the NFL even though they’ve only won 4 playoff games in the last 25 years. If we are just basing it off history than Robert E. Lee was a blue blood of the south but look how that turned out.

It is a sport with a draft and salary caps. There are no NFL blue bloods.

There are franchises that generally have their crap together and others that do not but there is nothing that makes the Cowboys any more competitive than anyone else. The Cowboy fans who don’t realize this are destined for disappointment more times than not.

There were 12 “official ranking polls” in 1942. UGA was ranked 1 in six of them and OSU was 1 in the other six.

OSU(9-1) was voted as #1 by heavily northern biased AP prior to the Rose Bowl game where UGA(11-1) beat UCLA. And UGA had the Heisman Winner that year. We feel pretty clean claiming that one.

Ohio state is a blue blood. And because of their status, LSU has to be as well. They have won as many titles as the buckeyes in the same period of time the last 30-40 years.

Bama, Georgia, OSU, Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, Michigan, and..

Maybe Notre Dame..and a Miami

Next up would be a Florida, Tenner, FSU, etc.. but they have work to do for a long period of time

by this logic this idiot doesn’t believe that Nebraska is a blue blood

Don’t make a thread about a topic you are so obviously ignorant about.
