Or Mac Jones is just not a very good NFL quarterback.
he can make plays. He does not have the arm strength to be an elite NFL QB. I said it coming out of college. He looked good early in his career but NFL DC's figured out you need to make him beat you downfield. The O looked just as good with Zappe playing. That is very telling.

I never thought Mac Jones was a first rd talent, I always figured him to be a system QB.
He had better surrounding talent, and played in a better scheme, at Alabama. Not just relative to level of play (that's a given), but actual. His WRs and RBs at Bama were better than anyone on the Pat's offense, and Bama's running a more modern scheme.
I thought the Florida QB, Trask, was a better talent. He's currently buried behind Brady, but probably walks into that job in a year or two, while Jones might get squeezed out of the league by then.

Jones is lucky. He has like a DIII Qb as the backup. It's Mac or bust.

I get trying to dump on Mac because he was a NC winning QB at Bama and Bama has generally kicked everyone's arse for 13 years...but the guy is a good QB. He was easily the best rookie QB last season and made the Pro Bowl as an alternate. So we know he can be a good NFL QB if we're being objective. He loses his OC and Belichick does absolutely nothing to help his development in year 2. Someone mentioned Burrow. Cincinnati actively tried to improve their OL and went out and got him a legit WR1 in the draft with Chase. New England let 2 starting OL from last season walk in free agency, drafted a third round guard in the first round and didn't even attempt to get a WR1 to help Mac in his development. There's not a single WR on their roster any defense has to focus on taking away. Belichick has committed malpractice with this team.

This is embarrassing!
Trucked into the dirt when trying to make a game-saving tackle for his team & his coach is putting his noodle arm on blast!
Hang it up Mac. It’s over.

Yup, pretty much the SEC Rant in a nutshell.
That's the rant in a nutshell.
You can also be even more original and use the word "melting" when you post such bullshite.

He would probably either be riding the bench or dealing with similar issues wherever he went.
The truth is they are still in the playoff hunt despite all these issues. His best bet is to ride the Belichick train and see what he can put together the next few years.
It's not ideal but I would think most QBs would take that gamble considering the potential results.

Meanwhile Burrow engineers an incredible second-half comeback against the man actually responsible for all of those titles.
Unless there's another pandemic around the corner to radically change the sport, Mac Jones may already be on a downslope. He needs pandemics.

Man, I wish Chicken would create a board where people could post dumbass NFL crap on it.
Why??? Posters would use it and would still post their shite here. Then posters bitching about frickers that can follow simple rules.... then posters ranting about those guys.... these guys whining about the other guys.... it will be chaos i tell you..... TOTAL ANARCHY

Then why did you draft him, a-hole? I swear...Belichick is insufferable. Anyone who thinks he'd be anything without Brady is kidding themselves. His DC is his OC this year, he has absolutely no threats at the skill positions, and has a QB who clearly is disgruntled by everything that is going on in the front office.
Mac Jones isn't good enough to save the offense. He knows this and yet refuses to put pieces in place to help him.

There is truth to this statement.
The 2020 Bama offense reassembled today would be superior to the 2022 NE Patriots and it isn’t even close.
QB: wash
RB: adv Bama (Najee Harris)
WR: HUGE adv Bama (Waddle/Smith/Metchie)
TE: push
OL: adv Bama (multiple NFL starters)
Coaching: Huge adv Bama (Sark)

Just an observation, but LSU fans seem to be very invested in Mac Jones’ NFL career.
I think it’s because we were all told right here that Mac Jones was better than Burrow. One went to the last place Bengals and the other went to one of the greatest NFL franchises of all time just a year out of the playoffs. The absurdity of that notion is highly entertaining when it’s laid bare for all to see.

Turns out Bill B is just an average coach who Tom Brady made look good
Without Tom as a starting QB Bill B is 64-78 (regular season) in his career as a head coach

Not that anyone on here actually cares … but a majority of the QBs in the NFL couldn’t have “couldn’t throw it that far”.
If the ball was on the Patriots 40, which it was, that’s 60 yards from the opposing goal line. But when you factor in a 5 yard snap, a 3 step drop… you’re now 68 yards from the goal line.
Tom Brady can’t throw the ball 68 yards! Neither can Mahomes. As a matter of record, Brett Farve could throw the ball 75 yards with a running go!
I recently watched an old QB competition on YouTube. Drew Breeze, Tom Brady, Jamarcus Russell, Doug Flutie and several other NFL QBs competed.
Only Russell top the 70 yard mark.. the rest fell in around 62-65 yards. That’s with a running go! I don’t think Mack could have dropped back and took a running go unless the raider defense left the field.

The defense didn’t throw 4 TD’s in the 2nd half and lead an 8 minute drive to end the game

It is starting to look more and more like Bill was made by Tom, not the other way around.
They made each other. Those early 2000s Patriots defenses were disgusting. They won on the back of defense early in the run and offense later in the run.
The single most underrated aspect of the Belichick/Brady Patriots was Brady's consistent willingness to take contracts below market value so they could keep the rest of the roster stocked.
