Will LSU actually field a defense since they didn't bother with one in 2023?

If a non-Big 6 team wins the SEC, will it become the Big 7 or will Tennessee drop off the list so that it remains the Big 6?

So the count starts in 1992 when the SEC Championship Game started?

BAMA - 30 SEC Championships. You do the math.

I was trying to determine/understand how the "Big 6" was determined.

Other teams outside the Big 6 have won the SEC, but it was a while ago..

For example, the SEC website shows Ole Miss as Champs in 1962 and 1963.. Kentucky as split Co-Champs in 1976.. etc.

My simple rankings since 1992.

2 pts per Championship Game Win
1 pt per Championship Game Loss

Tennessee has been a no show for a while now..

The Big 6 consists of those teams that have won the SEC since 1963. Kentucky’s “title” doesn't count.

LSU seems to give up easy when things don't go their way.

It's a subjective subject. Teams tend to start counting when they do their best playing. Florida would only be interested in 1992 forward.

BAMA, LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, the Barn, and Florida have the Big 6 moniker with my math. Kentucky was on probation in 1977. I don't think any other school, besides these 6, has ever won an SEC championship since 1964.

The biggest question is "what happens at Bama".

The goat leaving college football is a huge amount of uncertainty for the sport. Bama has been at the top of the sport for all of Saban's stay there. Seeing if Deboer can keep Bama at that spot is the biggest question for all of college football.

The fallout from that impacts the answers to a lot of other questions. Can UGA become the new Bama? Well if Bama slides back, the answer to that question can change. Can Kelly win a conference title? Bama's performance impacts that. Can Ole Miss use NIL to win despite not being awesome at high school recruiting? Again, Bama's place as a roadblock impacts that.

the biggest question is, "How will Bama come to terms with being average now?"

That's reasonable under any era of college football. And you are smart to be so concerned.

If that's the case, then the "Big 6/7" is kinda outdated. I'm thinking it goes the way of the divisions.

LSU's answer? Find a guy whose defense gave up nearly fiddy to us, then make him the highest paid asst coach around.

Bold strategy. Let's see if it works.

I don't know, how does it feel to be average?

We tied for sec championship in 1976. We were 6-0 in 1977 but were on probation.
