It doesn’t get flukier than 98 Tenn. There’s never been a luckier team for an entire season. What could have been a forgotten 3 or 4 loss season became a NC.

I think that K-State would have beaten Tennessee, but they choked in that big 12 title game against A&M. How awesome U that have been? From futility you to national champion in a decade

I have heard that Coach O let Freeze call the O in that game. Brent Schaffah had 300+ yards passing and rushing. That OM team was stacked with NFL talent. The Law Firm BJGE, Cordera Eason, Dexter McCluster, Shay Hodge, Mike Wallace, John Jerry, Michael Oher, Greg Hardy, Peria Jerry and others.

It was the game that I wanted.
I would have loved to see Bishop against the Tennessee defense.

Prematurely firing CEO was the biggest mistake yall ever made. He was building a monster there and with a decent OC he would've owned us as long as we had Miles

It was a learning experience for O. Like Saban coaching the Dolphins

I can see why you would say that but that roster already was a monster. I believe he worked his guts out for us and was and is an elite recruiter but how do you go 0-8 in the SEC with THAT roster?
I think he grew in his craft all along the way but he wasn’t the head coach at OM that he is today.
For what it’s worth, I do believe he is the model of the American dream where if you work your arse off, be humble, always learn, and keep your nose to the grindstone, you will be successful.

Try to explain to kids today that if there had been a CFP in 1998, it would have featured Tennessee, K-State and UCLA. Well, KSU and UCLA have had strong seasons since then, unlike y'all unfortunately

Y’all destroyed what Phil had at Tennessee in 01.

3rd quarter LSU had more points than Aggie had passing yards. Not to mention we hurt Buddy Johnson multiple times just by lining up.
Yet another hawt take from the troll.

2015 going 10-3 was a way bigger fluke
True that’s the Georgia team whose record is far better than how good we really were.
You could make an argument that some of 2002 we had some of the luck pushing us forward thing going on. It was one close win after another early on, but by late season that 02 squad was damn good.

I'll throw in the 1999 Alabama Crimson Tide. A team with no true starting QB - especially during the latter part of the season - that was carried to a conference title by Shaun Alexander, Chris Samuels, and Cornelius Griffin.

Two coaches to beat Spurrier twice in the same season - Mike Dubose and Gene Chizik.

For some Bama fans, any year that Alabama is not the NC is a down year for college football. They just can’t deal with anyone else’s success.

1999 MSU. That was a 5-7 team that went 10-2.
If not for the defense, it could have been a 3-8 team. Worst offense for a 10-win team in history.

Funny how that poor defense managed to hold Texas A&m 50-7
