Ohio State/Michigan total Meetings: 111

So that's it, then? Be-all end-all of a rivalry? Seems like a limited criteria.

When you don't play for 40 years, it's definitely a factor when you compare others

No...but it's a good tie-breaker.

The Iron Bowl is by far the best rivalry today.

I understand what you're saying but disagree. Bama-LSU has been, by far, a better rivalry the past 7 years. That's the game everyone is usually waiting for.

They didn't play because they hated each other and disagreed with each other on every minute detail. I think that actually helps argue that it's a stronger rivalry ( though not necessarily a bigger one).

I think the series record has to be close for it to be called a rivalry. Tennessee yeah, Auburn yeah.

LSU, hell no. Only reason it's been heated of late is because Saban.

lol. If you don't play it doesn't matter since no games are played.

MI vs OSU is by far the top college football rivalry.

MI OSU
National titles 11 8
Bowl appearances 43 45
CFP appearances 0 1
Postseason bowl record 20–23 21–24
Rose Bowl appearances 20 14
Rose Bowl wins 8 7
Big Ten titles 42 35
Consensus All-America Players 78 79
Heisman Trophies 3 7
All-time program record 915–328–36 863–319–53
All-time win percentage .729 .720

Michigan has 11 national titles, Ohio State has 8, While Alabama has 15 and Auburn has 2... that doesn't seem too equal to me.

Michigan and Ohio State play in "The Big House" and "The Horseshoe" - The 1st and 3rd largest stadiums in the country. Alabama and Auburn play in BDS and JHS.. 7th and 14th largest.

Ohio State and Michigan have 10 heisman trophy winning players. Alabama and Auburn combine for 4.

Lets talk about fanbases:

Ohio State and Michigan dominate their respective fan state,

Alabama dominates Alabama, while Auburn has a little pocket.

It's not even a competition... Just cause Alabama and Auburn fans project their "hate" for the other side in more ignorant backwoods violence than Ohio State and Michigan fans, doesn't mean it's a bigger, more heated rivalry.

I live in the now. I don't care that much about series records. Tennessee sucks, Auburn is hit-or-miss; the only team that has consistently put fear into Bama fans (the last 7 years) is LSU. That's why I consider it a (currently) bigger rivalry. Auburn is no slouch, though. I don't mean to imply that.

I don't care which one is "bigger" but the statement above is false. The IB has mudholed the Game in TV ratings here recently. It is a huge game annually and people from outside our little state do clearly care about it.

Any time Alabama has played Michigan or OSU outside of 2000, 2015, and a few other years....they both have gotten destroyed by Alabama.

Totally irrelevant yes, but I just wanted to say that because Roll Tide.

TV ratings vary throughout time. When two teams are highly ranked, people watch. Not rocket science. When one team is down and the other team is up, TV ratings falls. Not rocket science.

Yeah, none of what you said changes the point at hand. The IB is one of the most-watched (usually top 5 reg-season) games of the year and people outside of Alabama make a point to watch it. That's all I'm saying.

Michigan vs Alabama has taken place four times since the 1800's and the series is tied at 2 wins.

Next time know what you are talking about.

A ND game this year broke records for TV ratings. lol.

Wait until Saban retires and the ratings go down. You will be searching for a new talking point at that time.

Thank you, was about to post this. Because the administrations of both schools couldn't stand each other and refused to acquiesce to anything the other side wanted was the reason for them not playing. Don't see how that doesn't add more credibility to the argument.

Haven't the recent OSU-UM games been at noon? TV time slots are all about getting eyeballs on games, and that's why the SEC and recently the IB has owned prime time kick off.
