That is just a dumb assessment. SEC football didn't just start 20 years ago.

Big 6 is more than just national championships. It stemmed from a writer that every time he looked up historical national ranks the same 6 teams would appear towards the top for the SEC.

I thought it was pretty cool, that with UGA’s win, the Big 6 just completed another national champ cycle in the last 24 years.

Big 6 are 12-3 in the CFPlayoff when facing non-Big 6 schools.

It's very petty that you pretend to ignore Alabama's 2011 title, but recognize 2021 UGA, though both were a rematch and a victory over the SEC title winner. 21-0 still hurts.

edit to note that other than those that mocked LSU fans, I haven't seen before or after, Alabama fans crying about a rematch. The 2 best teams played this year same as 2011.

Florida and Auburn
I think you can make a case for Florida and the barn to make it big 5. Both have made the SECCG in the last 10 years, so they’re still semi-relavent

What is crazy though is the SEC variety of teams won titles closer together back in the day! The so called golden period of the SEC...crazy thing is you had 6 Different SEC teams win in 11 years. Kentucky even won back then..and defeated the longest NCAA win streak of all time.

1950 Tennessee
1951 Tennessee
1952 Georgia Tech
1957 Auburn
1958 LSU
1960 Ole Miss
1961 Alabama

What is crazy is the state of Alabama produced the champions 4 straight years

2009 Alabama
2010 Auburn
2011 Alabama
2012 Alabama

One actually won their division. The other was "eye tested" into a mulligan.

Since the SEC introduced an SEC title game with expansion in 1992:

SEC Championships:
Florida 7
LSU 5

SEC Championship Appearances:
Florida 13
LSU 6

National titles
Florida 3
LSU 3

SEC has won >50% of the NC's during that time period. Amazing.

It's amazing how you can plainly state what you mean on here and somehow it means something totally different to everyone else reading it.

Not so fast my friend. The Big Six are the 6 teams that have won the SEC since 1964.

Arguably the best era ever for SEC FB and Bama wasn't really Bama in the 50's and I believe UGA had only one SECC

I feel you man, but it’s been since 2008 that you won the SEC or Natty. 14 years. Time to get a move on Gators…

I don't think the "Big 6" categorization is relevant, at least not beyond the simple enjoyment of fans of those teams on an online forum.

UGA recruited top five even after a 7-5 season. Auburn could not manage to recruit top ten and fired their coach after winning a national championship. That is the difference between true bluebloods / "staying power" and momentary ascendance courtesy of a once-in-a-generation transfer (i.e, Cam Newton).

LSU won a Natty two years ago and is now ranked #20 in recruiting.

Current strength of program rankings:
1. Alabama
2. UGA
3. Toss-up: LSU, Florida, or Ole Miss (as long as Kiffin stays)
6. A&M
7. Auburn
8. UK
9. Arkansas
10. Etc.
