Most in the LOCAL MARKET in Texas are actually attending the games.
I link real stats and you move the goalposts.
My theory is that most of the folks in Texas are wearing orange and sipping tea.

I tried to watch it a couple times this week and couldn’t get over how much lower of quality their production is versus the SEC.

Nah most folks in Texas don’t give a shite about college football. This is easily the biggest NFL state south of the Mason Dixon line thanks to “America’s Team.”

Works for me.
This is worth a good reread from time to time. Old but very comprehensive.

Frick off.
OU brought home the Heisman this year, how many has A&M brought?
OU = 6 Heismans, 7 National championships > A&M. How many does Aggie have?
FWIW, 4 of those Heisman trophy winners were born in Oklahoma.
Keep dogging the Oklahoma market, while I'll enjoy Westbrook and George repping OKC this season in the NBA.
It's funny, you failed to mention OU's national titles in the past 2 years (Softball, Gymnastics (Men/Women), Golf, Tennis.
Texas schools in general trail the Oklahoma schools in the national championship hardware department.

You're mistaking Texas for California.

OU = 46 Collegiate team national championships, Okie State = 53 team collegiate national championships.
State of Oklahoma = 99 Collegiate national championships. An impressive stat for the state as a whole.

Only 16 total schools compete in men's gymnastics...at all levels.

The tea sippers in Cali don't wear orange.
Corvallis perhaps. But not burnt orange. Halloween orange.

Ratings for Ga/Ala national championship game
Well there we have it, folks... Columbus, Ohio is an SEC television market.
quote:
The seven markets that had the highest ratings for the game were all in the southeast. Birmingham led the way with a rating of 57.6. Outside of SEC country, the game was most watched in Austin, Texas, and Columbus, Ohio.

I can see them taking one Texas team (not UT) just to get a foot print in Texas and get that Texas money and Texas recruiting base.
The ACC would take SMU, Houston, or Rice over Baylor. Baylor is straight fricked if the Big 12 falls apart.

SEC penis envy is rampant at Ohio State.

quote:As far as TV market size, Birmingham is rated higher than Austin, Memphis, New Orleans, Louisville, Oklahoma City, Little Rock, Tulsa and Jacksonville, just behind San Antonio. Things change a little according to which listing you use. As far as college football eyes, Bham is often number 1. And it's not just watching the Tide or even the SEC. Though of course Alabama is the primary drawing card.

I actually heard that the only reason they got put in the Big 12 was because the governor of Texas at the time was a BU alum and forced them in.
Heard from a Horns fan though so idk how true that is..
