Who in there right mind would agree to play a bowl game 1500 miles away for most teams in the home city for 2 teams in USC , UCLA.

Even in UCLA's home field. That would like having the sugar bowl at Bryant Denny.

If the Big 10 wanted to have the bowl game say in Detroit the Pac 10 would have laughed.

Pac 10 got the best of that deal

So you're telling me the Big 10 would rather play in one of the worst cities in the US rather than warm Los Angeles during the New Year?

Lol whatever man

Meh. The Rose Bowl pays out a decent amount and probably has more prestige than any other bowl. Plus California in January is 100x better than bumfrick Iowa or Ohio

It's going to be 66 without a cloud in the sky in Los Angeles tomorrow.

So you get to leave Ohio/ Pennsylvania/ Michigan and go to Pasadena in December and you think that’s a bad trade?

Close. New Orleans and Tuscaloosa are both dirt cities, and comparable to Detroit.

California is nicer than all three. I'm cool with traveling for the Rose Bowl.

Didn’t Wisconsin have to play Miami in their home stadium last year?

OK if you were the Big 10 commissioner what would you do differently? Which Bowl game would you negotiate to play as your main goal for the conference tie-in? It seems that you are only considering home field advantage, and you are actually wrong on that as well with the way the Big 10 travels for this game and tickets are allotted.

Spend the holidays in Ohio/Michigan/Wisconsin/Minnesota and then spend the holidays in Southern California and tell me which is better.

The fans of some of the big ten schools just chap my butt with their arrogance and condescension. I would not pull for their teams if they were playing red China. The worst are Ohio State fans followed by Michigan people.

When ND was really good their fans were difficult to say the least. I am not a Clemson fan at all but I hope they slap ND silly on Saturday.

There are a lot of Big Ten alums in Southern California, and no other bowl has the tradition of the Rose Bowl. Why would they choose Sugar, Cotton or Peach? And playing in a northern dome is a non-starter as there are no historical ones in the region and it is pointless to create one.

Plus at the end of the day, Big Ten teams typically do well to split the crowd.

I would demand it be held in a neutral site like Dallas or Houston. Or rotate it.
How about having it in Hawaii.
Or have it in one of the NFL domes in big 10 country.
